Student answer (Band 5.5)
As there are 5 working days in week and 2 days for weekend. Many people usually needed more weekend days as those days are not enough for them. I agree with them as many people didn't able to spend time with their family and friends and have to do whole week remaining work in weekend.
During week days, people spend most of the time in working in office or business. Because of that people having stress and they needed an break. As people come late from work and eat dinner and than goes for a sleep and next day same routine is as it is. As they busy in their work they have no time for family and friends. For example, if a person works 5 days continuously and not able to spend time for himself and family, people need more time in weekend as they can go out with their family and have dinner and to meet friends. For that people needs longer weekends so they can manage all things properly.
During weekend most of the person time is goes in resting and remaining time person use for work which they left to do it in weekends such as shopping for grocery, go for laundry, house cleaning etc. While doing this work whole weekend gets passed and have no time for resting.
As there are many things person have to do in their daily life so it is hard to manage it in one or two days, so they need more time than they got today.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear agreement with the idea of a shorter working week. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. While you mention the need for rest and time with family, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. The essay relies on general statements about daily routines rather than exploring the broader implications of a shorter working week, such as productivity, economic impact, or mental health benefits. To improve, ensure each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported point rather than restating the same need for rest in different ways.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive. For instance, the frequent use of 'As' to start sentences makes the flow feel somewhat disjointed. Transitions between ideas are basic, and the logical progression within paragraphs is hindered by the repetitive nature of the arguments. Improving the variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in addition to this') would help create a smoother, more professional flow between your points.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple terms like 'work', 'time', and 'people'. There is a lack of more sophisticated or topic-specific vocabulary that would demonstrate a wider range. For example, instead of 'do the work', you could use 'fulfill professional obligations' or 'manage household chores'. Additionally, there are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'person time is goes in resting', which slightly affects the naturalness of the expression.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people needs'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'didn't able to'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'next day same routine is as it is'). While the meaning is generally understandable, these persistent errors prevent the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for tense consistency would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
