Student answer (Band 5.0)

The number of working days in a week should be shorter and workers should have a longer weekend. I partially agree with this statement.

I partially agree because not all the employees are comfortable with this schedule. because some workers have a lot of time to complete their projects and they don't need to rush all the time. They can make it happen even by working in short week days. And they wanted to have a long weekend as they do not have much pressure regarding the timelines of the project. While some workers think, they are tired working in week days and had a lot of pressure. So they wanted to rest for a longer weekend.

While I disagree, in the point of view that some projects have a very limited time to handover. In that cases, the workers try their best to work overtime long hours to submit on time. They want all the week days available to work. If the days are shortened, they may feel more burden and can't handle things right way. It is not taken by considering few workers but the opinion of all workers in all grounds as everyone matters and raise their opinion.

In the conclusion, I think I disagree with the statement because the workers must have enough time to complete their projects. So the working week should not become shorter and be as it is. It is viable to the weekend normal and longer weekend only when it is available other than taking longer weekend permanently.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt but struggles with consistency. You state you 'partially agree' in the introduction, but then shift to a disagreement in the conclusion. The ideas regarding project timelines and worker pressure are relevant, but they are not fully developed or supported with specific examples. The argument is somewhat repetitive, and the final paragraph contradicts the initial stance, making the overall position unclear. To improve, ensure your position is established early and maintained throughout the essay, and provide concrete examples to support your claims rather than just stating them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between the idea of 'some workers' and 'disagreeing' is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or misused, such as starting sentences with 'While I disagree, in the point of view that...' which is grammatically awkward and disrupts the flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'make it happen', 'handle things right way', and 'as it is'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'short week days' instead of 'shorter working weeks' and 'handover' used as a verb in a context where 'complete' or 'submit' would be more appropriate. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary and collocations related to the topic of employment and workplace management.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('everyone matters and raise their opinion'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence construction ('It is not taken by considering few workers'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence structure and proofreading for common errors like verb tense consistency.
