Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often argued that weekends should be longer for employees than that of job weeks and i agree with this statement because most jobs typically do not need employees for the whole week and longer weekend help them spend more time with close ones.
Most of the organizations today no dot require workers to sit through the whole week at office as the work can be done in two or three days if its structured that way. However, employers think workers should commute to the work place every day even if the work could be done a day as they are being paid, which is a traditional workplace ideology. But shorter working days have several benefits. This would significantly reduce traffic congestion at peak hours, helping less air pollution from the exhaust fume. Furthermore, employee satisfaction would increase, resulting in more productive hours, which would grow overall firm profitability.
Moreover, employees would be able to reconnect with family more often which would result in strong bonding between them. Additionally, people would start spending more on entertainment, food, music classes, and so on, helping the economy. Many would be able to pursue their passion or do side hustles for extra income helping individuals financially while having a fulltime employment. Sometimes working long hours for the whole week performing the same activity become boring but employees don't dare to quit job because of financial limitation but longer weekend can helps them to overcome boredom and earn extra money. For example, many fulltime job holders do freelancing and online business as a form of time pass, passion or extra income in western counties, indicating the probable increase in number if working weeks become shorter.
In conclusion, weekends should be longer for people who are employed as it helps them spend quality time with their family, pursue things they love and gives an opportunity to earn extra money, helping grow the overall country's GDP. Therefore i completely agree with the statement.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You provide several relevant arguments, such as the impact on traffic congestion, employee satisfaction, and economic benefits. The ideas are extended and supported with examples, such as the mention of freelancing in Western countries. However, the development is occasionally slightly repetitive, and some arguments, like the link between shorter weeks and GDP growth, could be more tightly reasoned. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements for a Band 7, as the position is clear and the main ideas are relevant and supported.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing in the first paragraph ('that of job weeks') is a bit awkward. Nevertheless, there is a clear progression of ideas throughout the response, which aligns with the criteria for Band 7.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision. Phrases like 'traditional workplace ideology', 'traffic congestion', and 'employee satisfaction' are used effectively. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'helping less air pollution' (should be 'reducing air pollution') and 'time pass' (which is informal). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the control is not always consistent. The range is adequate for the task, and the errors do not impede communication, placing this in the Band 6 range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. You successfully employ complex sentences, such as 'However, employers think workers should commute to the work place every day even if the work could be done a day as they are being paid'. However, there are frequent minor errors in grammar and punctuation, such as 'no dot' (typo), 'longer weekend help them' (subject-verb agreement), and 'can helps them' (modal verb error). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of your arguments. This level of control is consistent with Band 6.
