Student answer (Band 6.0)
The workers should be given extra day off as well as have their work time cut short during the week than the current situation. I strongly agree with this statement as it resonates with many individuals around me. This essay explicates the further with relevant examples.
In todays fast paced world, every single person is expected to earn regardless of their age and health. The corporate world tends to run a rat race rather than a healthy work environment. Consequently, work is becoming a determining factor of one's wellbeing, working at a stressful environment would cause the worker severe health concerns such as heart failure, brain strokes, panic attacks etc. Therefore, it is advised to get some rest as much as possible and reduce the workload, such can be done when companies take these action of changing the work schedule. It also plays an important role in the efficiency of the organisation. For instance, an employee is contracted to work for 6 days a week and given a day to rest which somehow results him in completing the target for the next day, as a result his health declines because of exhaustion and reduces his efficiency towards the company.
Another factor to be considered would be the family of the personnel. A family would be a major responsibility for one, and spending quality time with them is crucial for each and every member. This not only creates unforgettable memories but also a bond which cannot be defined. For instance, a child would want his dad to attend his school recital and cheer for him, it might not seem much of deal but would mean the world that child.
In conclusion, I firmly stand with the idea of workers receiving longer holidays and shorter work days as it has multiple different advantages in terms of professional as well as personal life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in favor of a shorter working week. The ideas are relevant, focusing on health and family life. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding health is supported by a hypothetical example, but the explanation of how a shorter week improves efficiency is slightly muddled. The family argument is better developed, though it relies on a specific, narrow example. To reach a higher band, the essay would benefit from more sophisticated reasoning that links the reduction in hours more directly to broader societal or economic benefits, rather than relying on personal anecdotes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Consequently', 'Therefore', and 'For instance', which help guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'This essay explicates the further'. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be smoother in the second paragraph. Overall, the progression of ideas is logical, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0 level of organization.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with some attempts at more sophisticated collocations like 'fast paced world' and 'determining factor'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'explicates the further' (should be 'furthermore' or 'explains this further') and 'take these action' (should be 'take these actions'). The range is sufficient to communicate the writer's ideas clearly, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for a higher band. The use of 'rat race' is a good idiomatic touch, but overall, the vocabulary remains somewhat standard.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'an extra day off' (missing article), 'working at a stressful environment' (should be 'in'), and 'results him in completing' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is generally functional, though some sentences are slightly run-on. While the errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions, as well as refining the structure of complex sentences to ensure they are error-free.
