Student answer (Band 5.5)

The people usually love the idea of longer weekend, however there are also some opposite voices that emphasize on more days of work. I completely agree with the given notion because longer weekend help people to spend quality time with family and also rehabe properly from hectic work.

People spend most of their time in work place, mainly one-third of a day and also spend a noticeable amount of time in traffic and rest of day in sleeping. So, they do not find time for their family and friends on weekdays. People need more time on weekends to spend it with their loveones for cheerful moments and that only possible by making weekend longer. For example, my cousin works in a security agency and he has only one holiday in a week that is why he spend very less time with his family and his kids always have complain about it.

As mention people spend most of his day in working and driving that makes their health more hectic and creates many psychological issues. The best way to comes out of these problems are to spend most time with people who are important for them and less number of holiday does not provide that luxury. Therefore, mostly people go to medical expert to get rid of these health issues. For instance, in software houses mostly people get two or three holidays and they spend most of week with their close circle and this rehabe helps them to implement many difficult ideas very easily.

In conclusion, I strongly belive that wroking week should be shorter and worker enjoy long weekend that promotes strong family bound, improve overall health of people and also increase happiness among people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in favor of a shorter working week. The ideas are relevant, focusing on family time and mental health. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you provide examples, such as the cousin in a security agency and software house employees, the analysis remains relatively superficial. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the broader societal or economic implications of a shorter working week rather than focusing primarily on personal anecdotes. The position is consistent throughout, but the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly explored to demonstrate a deeper engagement with the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Therefore', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'As mention people...'). Some transitions feel repetitive, and the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother. To improve, try using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensure that the relationship between sentences is more explicitly stated to guide the reader through your argument more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'hectic work', 'psychological issues', and 'software houses'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'rehabe properly' (likely meant 'recuperate' or 'recover'), 'loveones' (should be 'loved ones'), and 'mostly people' (should be 'most people'). The range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on basic vocabulary. Increasing your use of more precise, academic collocations would significantly enhance your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('longer weekend help people', 'mostly people go to medical expert') and incorrect verb forms ('As mention people'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are missing articles and awkward phrasing throughout. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your verb tenses are consistent. Reducing these frequent errors will allow your ideas to be communicated more professionally.
