Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many people think that weekdays should reduce and a longer period of weekend should provide the employees. In my perspective, though weekends have some positive impact on employees, the weekdays must not be decreased.
There are several reasons way week should not be shorter. Firstly, a lot of work will not complete in a company if weekdays are reduced. As a result, employees will feel immense level of pressure which will reduce their productivity. In addition, it can be a cause for the losses of the company. For instance, two years ago in my factory the number of weekdays was decreased and the consequences were not in favor of my company. My factory experienced a huge amount of losses. Therefore, after some days the official took a decision for omitting this approach. In addition, if weekdays decrease, then a lot of workers will become idle. They will not focus on their jobs properly. It habit can destroy the productive energy of highly active employees.
On the other hand, if the weekdays get increased the workers can work more time and this result in positive developments of their industry. This trend can make a company more profitable. In this way the perspective of the employees and factory owners will change. By making happy, workers can able to get
promotion. Thus, workers will get motivated to work hard. For example, when i was a teacher in a well known school, i took extra classes on weekends which helped me created a positive image to my head teacher and I got promoted quickly for this trait. It encouraged me a lot for working hard.
To sum up, though weekends have some positive aspects on our personal life , we should stick with longer weekdays trend.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against shortening the working week. The ideas are relevant and supported by personal examples, such as the factory experience and the teaching anecdote. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding 'idle' workers is a bit repetitive, and the connection between working longer hours and receiving promotions is a personal perspective that could be more broadly contextualized. To reach a higher band, ensure that the arguments are fully explored with more objective reasoning rather than relying solely on personal anecdotes. The position is consistent throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'In addition', 'On the other hand', and 'To sum up', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'It habit can destroy' or 'This trend can make a company more profitable'. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the internal flow within paragraphs could be smoother. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, which slightly impacts the overall cohesion of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choice, such as 'weekdays should reduce' (should be reduced), 'the official took a decision' (management/the administration), and 'omitting this approach' (abandoning/reversing). While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic terminology related to labor and productivity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('a lot of work will not complete'), article misuse, and awkward sentence construction ('workers can able to get promotion'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in sentence boundaries and capitalization (e.g., 'i' instead of 'I'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to suggest a lack of control over more complex structures.
