Student answer (Band 6.0)

Working hours for workers is becoming a highly debatable topic nowadays. It is often argued that working week should be shorter as compared to weekends.I strongly agree with this statement as it is essential for work-life balance and the health of employees.

The most significant aspect is that, people can spend time with their families on.It is observed that workers often complain that they cannot spend time with their families due to work committments.By having prolonged weekend, they can spend time with their families .This will strengthen their relation with their loved ones. For instance, many kids feel neglected when parents donot pay attention ,as most of their time is spent in official responsibilities. Therefore, more days for weekend are necessary for maintaing balance between personal and professional life.

Another major reason for my stance is that, longer weekends impact mental and physical health of workers positively. Most of the jobs are highly demanding that make individuals feel stressedout. Therefore, having more days in weekends give plenty of time for employees to focus on their health by engaging in some physical activity. This will not only imorove their physical health but also make them feel more relaxed. For example, they can go for a hike along the mountain. While hiking , they can enjoy amazing views that will refreshen them.Consequently, they will be more active and perform efficiently during their official working days.

In conclusion, longer weekends for emplyees play a crucial role in maintaing a balance between official and personal responsibilties. This will also provide a substantial time for them to strengthen their relation with their kids.As they feel strong both mentally and physically, they will eventually perform better during their working days.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have clearly stated your position in the introduction and maintained it throughout the essay. The two main body paragraphs provide relevant reasons—family time and mental/physical health—to support your argument. The ideas are extended with examples, such as the mention of hiking and the impact on children. However, the development could be more sophisticated; for instance, the link between a shorter working week and increased efficiency is mentioned but could be explored with more depth to reach a higher band. Overall, you have addressed all parts of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use cohesive devices such as 'The most significant aspect is that', 'Another major reason', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with punctuation and spacing (e.g., 'nowadays. It', 'families on.It'). Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring consistent spacing would enhance the overall coherence. The progression of ideas is clear, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'work-life balance', 'official responsibilities', and 'highly demanding'. There are some spelling errors, such as 'maintaing', 'imorove', 'refreshen', and 'emplyees', which slightly detract from the quality of the writing. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the occasional inaccuracies in word choice (e.g., 'refreshen' instead of 'refresh') suggest a need for more precise usage. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but it lacks the sophistication required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles (e.g., 'working week should be shorter', 'having more days in weekends') and subject-verb agreement. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and commas. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading for small errors like missing articles and ensuring correct punctuation after full stops.
