Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that employees should work fewer hours and have a longer weekends. I strongly agree with this view because a shorter working week can improve workers wellbeing while also helps to maintain professional and private life balance.
One major advantage of reducing hours is that worker give more attention to his mental and overall well-being. Employees would have more time to rest and pursue their personal interest. Long hours could have considerable stress and eventually lead to mental and physical exhaustion. By having additional day off from work, people will spend more time with their families and freinds that will make them more relaxed and recover from demands of their jobs. This could make them to manage work-life balance in a healthier way and reduce the likelihood of burnouts. For example, employees who have sufficient time to recover at the weekends are likely to return to work feeling better and effectively.
A shorter worker week could also benefit employers by improving productivity. Although reducing working hour may initially appear to decrease the amount of work completed, well rested employers generally able to concentrate more effectively. For instance, companies that introduce a four-day working week could compensate for fewer working hours by having employees work more efficiently during their time at work.
In conclusion, I agree that the working week should be shortened and the weekend extended. This would not only improve employees' health and work-life balance but could also make them more focused, motivated and productive.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The ideas regarding mental well-being and productivity are relevant and logically extended. However, the response is slightly under the 250-word minimum requirement (249 words), which necessitates a penalty in this criterion. While the arguments are well-developed, the conclusion is somewhat brief. To reach a higher band, ensure that all points are fully expanded and that the word count requirement is strictly met to avoid unnecessary deductions.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'One major advantage', 'Although', and 'For instance' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there is occasional awkwardness in the flow between sentences. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but more sophisticated linking words could enhance the overall cohesion of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at topic-specific language such as 'professional and private life balance' and 'mental and physical exhaustion'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'worker give more attention' (should be 'workers give') and 'well rested employers' (should be 'employees'). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Expanding your repertoire of collocations and ensuring correct word forms will improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is consistently clear, there are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('worker give', 'well rested employers generally able') and minor errors in article usage and prepositions. Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'This could make them to manage'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and refining complex sentence construction will be beneficial.
