Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many people argue that the weekdays should be shorter so that employees can have extended weekend. I strongly agree with this statement, when they get the more holidays to become refreshed more they become energetic. As a result it soar the productivity.
There are several benefits of shortening the working days of the worker. One of the major merits is increase in productivity of the organization. People get frustrated after the long days of work and they are not the machines. If they are given the sufficient time to rest and for their refreshment, they utilize that time to wash all their pain and frustration during weekend and they become as fresh as the beginning phase of the joining, as a result their working capacity increase and they use their all potential in accomplishing the task. Consequently, it helps to manufacture quality of goods in massive quantity.
In addition, when workers get more weekend, the machineries can also operate with full potential. If there is more operating days, then this can cause the heating problems in machineries as a result it can not operate smoothly and it can reduce the life span of the plants. This problem can lead the company in loss. Moreover, when employees work excessive time without rest and entertainment, the problem related with their wellbeing may arise like they loss their focus on the work. For example, due to the more work days people get fatigue and they can not put the focus on their work as a result level or the quantity of production will decrease.
In conclusion, many employees think that there should be less working days in order to take the enough rest and to be refreshed, as they can work at their full potential and to make the most profitable organization. I personally believe that it should be granted by the company for the sake of their own like quality production and to maintain the consistency in production.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on productivity and employee well-being. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding the concept of 'rest' and 'productivity'. While the argument is logical, the supporting examples—such as the claim about machinery heating up due to longer working weeks—are slightly tangential and not fully convincing in a professional context. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported point rather than restating the same benefits in different ways. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition', 'Consequently', and 'Moreover', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The progression of ideas is generally logical, moving from the benefits for the employee to the benefits for the organization. However, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between 'washing away pain' and 'productivity' is slightly disjointed. Improving the flow between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'work', 'productivity', and 'days'. Phrases such as 'wash all their pain' are slightly unnatural in an academic context. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'potential', 'consistency', and 'wellbeing', the range is limited. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic synonyms to express ideas more fluently and avoid repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as 'it soar the productivity' (should be 'it increases productivity'), 'they loss their focus' (should be 'they lose'), and 'the problem related with their wellbeing may arise' (should be 'problems related to'). Articles are also frequently misused or omitted, such as 'in the massive quantity'. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the essay from reaching a higher band.
