Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's fast-paced world, maintaining a healthy balance between work and personal life has become increasingly important. I completely agree that the working week should be shorter and workers should have a longer weekend because this can improve productivity and promote a better work-life environment.
To begin with, a shorter working week can improve employees' productivity and overall work performance. Working for longer hours continuously without proper breaks leads to pressure and stress for employees and affects mental health as well. In contrast, employees who work for shorter periods and enjoy their long weekends by relaxing and pursuing their personal interests experience higher productivity and promote overall well-being. For example, an employee who works shorter days and enjoys the longer weekends can do the work more effectively, and they keep more focus and concentration on the work. Hence, employees who work for a considerable amount and experience longer weekends can increase productivity and promote well-being.
Furthermore, they can have a chance to spend their time with families and friends, while they might not be able to do this if they work for longer hours. On top of that, there is a less chance to do mistakes in the work as they will put all their blood and sweat into the work. Moreover, employees can spend their free time on personal development, which is very useful in their workplace. In addition, they can spend their time doing workouts to be more fit and able to do their work with more energy. Therefore, they assist employees in maintaining a better work-life environment.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that the working week should be shortened and employees should be given a longer weekend. This can not only improve their productivity and work performance but also reduce stress and allow them to maintain a healthier work-life balance.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on productivity, mental health, and work-life balance. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the argument about productivity is mentioned in both the second and third paragraphs without significant new depth. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more specific, concrete examples—perhaps citing a study or a real-world industry trend—rather than relying on general statements about 'blood and sweat' or 'workouts'. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments could be more varied and analytical.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', 'On top of that', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some of the transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, particularly the reliance on 'In addition' and 'Moreover'. The progression of ideas is generally clear, though the link between personal development and workplace efficiency in the third paragraph could be more explicitly stated to improve the flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task and allows for clear communication. You use some good collocations like 'fast-paced world', 'work-life balance', and 'overall well-being'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a tendency to repeat words like 'productivity', 'work', and 'time'. Some phrasing is slightly informal or imprecise, such as 'there is a less chance to do mistakes' (should be 'less chance of making mistakes') and 'put all their blood and sweat into the work', which is an idiom that feels slightly out of place in a formal academic essay. Expanding your range of synonyms would improve the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are recurring grammatical errors. For example, 'there is a less chance to do mistakes' contains an error in article usage and collocation. Additionally, 'they assist employees in maintaining' lacks a clear antecedent for 'they'. There are also minor issues with preposition usage and word order. While you attempt complex sentences, the control is not consistent enough for a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and refining the use of articles would significantly enhance the accuracy of your writing.
