Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an ongoing debate about whether employees to get a shorter working week and a longer weekend. I agree with this statement because longer weekend is crucial to stay productive during working days.
One major advantage of longer weekend is that it allows workers to recover from stress and mental fatigue. They will get time to maintain their personal and professional life because during working days they are not able to give enough time to their families. The government of Pakistan provides longer weekend to government servants. Their weekend start on Friday and end on Sunday. For instance, many workers belong to nearby cities, therefore they get time in weekends to spend time with their loved ones.
Furthermore, when an employee get enough time to resolve his personal problem and additional time for rest then he will be productive through out whole working days. A reliable organization rely on productivity because they did not want to lose their reputation. Therefore, they provide longer weekends to employees to maintain efficient and effective work. For example, defence forces provide longer weekends and extra leaves to soldiers because their job is quite hectic. Additional time is helpful for them to stay active during duties.
To conclude this, longer weekends are important to stay active during week days and to perform well according to higher officials requirements. Moreover, additional leaves leads to coup stress and anxiety. Extra time on weekends is beneficial for their personal life because they also have to give time their family members.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of a shorter working week. The ideas are relevant, focusing on productivity and work-life balance. However, the development is somewhat limited. While the argument about productivity is introduced, it lacks depth and relies on generalizations. The examples provided, such as the mention of the Pakistani government and defense forces, are relevant but could be more effectively integrated to support the main argument. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your points with more detailed explanations or nuanced reasoning rather than repeating the same ideas in the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'For instance', and 'To conclude' are used to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, though the connection between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the discussion of personal problems and organizational reputation in the second paragraph is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will help improve the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands. You use common terms like 'longer weekend' and 'productive' repeatedly, which limits the range. There are some inaccuracies in collocation, such as 'leads to coup stress', which is unclear. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precise, academic vocabulary prevents a higher score. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and demonstrate a more flexible command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'whether employees to get' (should be 'whether employees should get'), 'Their weekend start' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'they did not want' (tense inconsistency). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, consistent verb tenses, and correct article usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
