Student answer (Band 6.5)
Many people argue that the working days should be shorter and workers should have longer weekends. I strongly agree with the idea of having long weekends because it will help us overcome many life problems.Firstly, people who work the whole week and have only one day off face health problems. They suffer from muscle pain due to long sitting , eyesight weakness from continuous use of computer screens, hair loss as a result of stress, anxiety, and depression. People have less time to engage in extracurricular activities, exercise , and spend time with their families . All these time -bound jobs lead people far from their normal lives; they become like robots . They go through this grind every day. In the end, they have nothing in their hands-neither health, nor children, nor wealth. On the other hand , people who work only four days a week and enjoy a long weekend show excellent results in their work , personal life, and social life. They play an essential role in economic growth. For example, on weekends , people go out with their families, which boosts their energy levels , refreshes their minds , and alleviates office stress. As a result, they become more productive and generate new ideas to resolve work- related issues. When the mind is fresh, people have clear thoughts, which allows them to achieve success in their work and positively impacts their personal lives .As a result, I support the idea of longer weekends ; they provide people with free time in which they can try new things, explore their personalities , invent new technologies, and come up with innovative ideas. In the future, these benefits will serve the local community and play an important role in economic growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response clearly addresses the prompt and maintains a consistent position throughout. The arguments are relevant, focusing on health benefits and increased productivity. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive; for instance, the points about 'economic growth' and 'productivity' are mentioned in both the second and third paragraphs without significant expansion. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more specific examples or nuanced explanations rather than restating the same benefits. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance, but the overall development remains slightly superficial, preventing it from reaching the highest band descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the health-related drawbacks of the current system to the benefits of a shorter week. You use some cohesive devices effectively, such as 'Firstly,' 'On the other hand,' and 'As a result.' However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more fluid. For example, the transition between the health issues and the 'robot' analogy is slightly abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision. Phrases like 'alleviates office stress,' 'extracurricular activities,' and 'innovative ideas' are used appropriately. There are some minor issues with collocation and word choice, such as 'time-bound jobs' (which is slightly unnatural in this context) and 'eyesight weakness' (better expressed as 'vision impairment'). While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, it lacks the sophistication and idiomatic control required for higher bands. Focusing on more precise collocations will help elevate your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. You show good control over basic grammar, and your meaning is always clear. There are occasional errors, such as punctuation spacing (e.g., 'sitting ,', 'exercise ,') and minor subject-verb agreement or article usage issues. While you attempt complex sentences, they are often straightforward. To improve, try to incorporate a wider variety of subordinate clauses and ensure that your punctuation is consistently accurate. The current level of accuracy is generally good, but the range of structures is somewhat limited for a higher band.
