Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is argued that, working professionals should have longer weekends and they should work for only few days a week. I agree with this school of thought, Its not only good for mental health and work life balance, but workers should have enough time for their family.

Working for about 3-4 days a week has many potential benefits for a company and its employees. The working professional will give more attention to their work, not only this, they will have better brain storming due to a balance between work and their personal lives. I think through this initiatives companies will have more room to earn more. For instance, there is a perfect balance between professional work and personal life in Norway, as a result employees are working happily without any issues and companies are generating more revenues.

In addition, longer weekends have a positive impact on a persons' family life. A working person will have more spare time to spend with his family. Moreover, it also reduces the stress and anxiety. By just continuing this we can make this world a better place. For example, according to a research, there is an increase amount of stress has been noticed among the young individuals because of being carrier focused and spending less time among friends and family.

In conclusion, it is stated that working days in a week should be decreased for the employed individuals, and they should have more days for weekends. I strongly agree with this, because it good for people to have better mental state and a good balance of work in their life. In addition, they will have more leisure time, so they can spend time with their beloved ones.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of mental health and the example of Norway, though some points are slightly under-developed. For instance, the claim that companies will 'have more room to earn more' is asserted but not fully explained in terms of productivity or operational costs. The conclusion restates the position well. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more detailed explanations for your arguments, ensuring that each point is fully supported with logical reasoning rather than just stated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition', 'Moreover', and 'For instance', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally slightly awkward, such as 'By just continuing this' in the third paragraph, which lacks a clear antecedent. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that pronouns and references clearly link back to the preceding sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'work-life balance', 'mental health', and 'leisure time'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'give more attention to their work' (better: 'increase their focus') and 'increase amount of stress has been noticed' (grammatically awkward). The range is sufficient but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic collocations and precise terminology would significantly enhance your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include comma splices ('I agree with this school of thought, Its not only good...'), subject-verb agreement issues ('an increase amount of stress has been noticed'), and incorrect pluralization ('a persons' family life'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are persistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic punctuation, particularly the use of commas and apostrophes, and ensure that your complex sentences are constructed with grammatical precision.
