Student answer (Band 5.5)
A fair quantity of people think that working days from the week should be reduced and employees should give more time for weekends. I, completely agree with this statement.
One of the most convincing reason behind my agreement is that people work whole week and feel stressed and tired. So because of it they cannot feel fresh and energetic just in one or two days holiday. Therefore, the government has to reduce working days and have to increase holidays or weekends.
Secondly, because of work many people cannot give enough time to there families and cannot discuss the problems that is happening in the families. For example, children cannot discuss about their studies and also their future plans because their parents are working and cannot get sufficient time to talk with them.
On the other some people think that money is very essential in everyone's life. Furthermore, people cannot spend more time without job as without job people cannot earn money. But most of people gives importance only jobs and do not care about their health.
To conclude, working days should be reduced and have to give more time to enjoy weekends, because of this they cannot spend family time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you clearly state your position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient depth or specific examples. For instance, the point about family time is mentioned but not fully explored. Furthermore, the conclusion is confusing, as it contradicts your main argument by stating 'because of this they cannot spend family time' instead of explaining how a shorter week would facilitate it. To improve, you must expand your points with more detailed explanations and ensure the essay meets the length requirement to allow for a full discussion of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'One of the most', 'Secondly', and 'To conclude' to signal transitions. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and logical gaps. For example, the transition in the third paragraph is abrupt, and the final sentence of the conclusion is logically flawed, as it fails to link back to your thesis effectively. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph flows logically into the next, maintaining a consistent argument throughout.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it remains quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'fair quantity of people' and 'give more time' are functional but lack the precision expected at higher levels. There are also some minor word-choice issues, such as 'give more time for weekends' instead of 'extend the weekend'. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and topic-specific vocabulary related to work-life balance and economic productivity. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you avoid repeating words like 'time', 'work', and 'people' throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'One of the most convincing reason' (should be 'reasons'), 'there families' (should be 'their'), and 'most of people gives importance' (should be 'most people give'). Additionally, some sentences are awkwardly constructed, such as 'So because of it they cannot feel fresh'. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct pronoun usage, and refining your sentence structure to ensure accuracy. Proofreading for these common errors will help you achieve a higher score.
