Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people think that the number of working days in a week should be lesser than the number of days in the weekend. Interestingly, I completely agree with this statement.
There is a need to realize that humans are not machines. They require pauses, need to refresh themselves up, and only one or two days of weekend aren't sufficient for this. Therefore, the weekend should be longer than the working week.
Some people might argue that making working days lesser in a week will lead to inefficiency, as productivity will fall, and goals will not be achieved etc. But that's actually the result of longer working days, where employees fed up of their hectic monotonous daily routine, just come to offices only for the sake of formality, and do not work from the core of their hearts.
I can say this because of two personal experiences. Firstly, a very good friend of mine works at a law firm near my house. He told me that entire staff just tries their best to escape on last working day because they all are usually exhausted working whole week.
Secondly, I work remotely for a US based cryptocurrency trading platform where my working days are lesser than weekend days, therefore I try to give my best performance during the working days. I analyze trends, evaluate technicals, maximize profit for my firm. And on the weekend days, I spend quality life with my immediate family and friends, maintaining a healthy work life balance that has boosted my work efficiency to a significant level.
Due to these reasons, I will always be a supporter of the view that a working week should be shorter and workers should have a longer weekend always.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have clearly stated your position and maintained it throughout the response. The ideas are relevant and supported by personal examples, which helps to develop the argument. However, the response could be improved by exploring the counter-argument more deeply; while you mention the potential for inefficiency, the rebuttal is somewhat brief. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting points are fully extended with more nuanced analysis rather than relying solely on personal anecdotes. Overall, the task is addressed well, and the position is clear.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Therefore' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing could be more sophisticated. For instance, the transition between the counter-argument and your personal experience could be smoother. The referencing is generally clear, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'monotonous', 'efficiency', and 'cryptocurrency'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'refresh themselves up' (which is redundant) and 'do not work from the core of their hearts' (which is a bit informal and non-idiomatic). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the control is not always consistent. To improve, focus on more precise collocations and academic phrasing to elevate the tone of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'the number of working days... should be lesser' (should be 'fewer') and 'employees fed up of' (missing the verb 'are'). Additionally, 'the entire staff just tries' should be 'the entire staff tries'. While these errors are present, they do not impede communication. To achieve a higher score, aim for more error-free complex sentences and ensure consistent subject-verb agreement throughout your writing.
