Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is very rare to get a longer weekend because companies doesn't want to give break to their employees. weekend is important for everyones life but if the weekend would longer and working time will shorter; then it could be create some drawbacks. From my perspective, i totally disagree with the longer weekend.
To begin with, Longer weekned is cruical for every individuals life but we have to give the priority on our work first. If people spend too much time on weekend they will face some problems in their daily life. For example, poeple will loss their working ability; they may face some issue in time mangement; and it will also harm their work experience, etc. These are not only danger for employees but also put the companies into denger.
In addition, If the company give their workers a huge weekend, the company will suffer from lack of productivity; and if this happened the companies profit will be reduced; and this could also harm the GDP of a country. Moreover, if the worker will work for a long time and spend less time in the weekend, it will be beneficial for the both workers and companies. For instance, weekend is a basic need of a people, because everyone should give some times to their family and friends; and also for own refreshment. Thus, everyone should get a shorter weekend, rather than longer weekend.
In conclusion, if the workers will work for short time and spend lots of time in the weekend, it will put them in several danger and they will lost their longivity in their work field. For these reason, i totally disagree with the longer weekend for the workers.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against a shorter working week. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. While you mention productivity and GDP, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. The reasoning is somewhat contradictory; for instance, you argue that a longer weekend is 'crucial' but then immediately state that people should prioritize work and that a shorter weekend is better. To improve, ensure your supporting points directly reinforce your central thesis without contradicting your own logic. The ideas are relevant but remain at a surface level, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'Thus, everyone should get a shorter weekend' does not logically follow the previous point about the benefits of family time. Additionally, there is some repetition of phrases like 'longer weekend' and 'shorter weekend' which makes the flow feel somewhat clunky. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') and ensure that each sentence logically connects to the one preceding it.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms such as 'danger', 'problems', and 'good/bad' concepts. There are also several word-choice errors, such as 'lost their longivity' (longevity) and 'poeple will loss their working ability' (lose). To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to economics and labor, such as 'economic output', 'work-life balance', or 'professional efficacy'. Avoid repeating the same basic vocabulary throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'companies doesn't want', 'everyone should give some times') and article usage. Sentence structures are relatively simple, and there are errors in punctuation and word forms, such as 'if the weekend would longer' (would be longer) and 'a people' (people). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors interfere with the fluency of the writing. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically the use of conditional 'if' clauses and pluralization, before attempting more complex structures.
