Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued by some people that working hours in a week should be shorter. Although some people might disagree with the notion, I completely agree. Not only because long weekends offer time to spend with family and do pending tasks at home, but also for mental rest.
There are multiple benefits associated with having longer weekends. Firstly, shorter weekdays offer proper time to spend with family. As long hours of duty every week can negatively affect personal life. Take an example of Finland, in 2003, their government had a decision to reduce working hours every week, in the following years their happiness index rate increased by double rate. Thus, long weekends have a positive effect.
Secondly, longer weekends offer time to do pending tasks at home. As there are a lot of tasks at home that require full attention and proper time. For instance, in Japan, it is expected that by the year 2034, there most of people would have enough time to perform household tasks on weekends, mainly because their government is considering long weekends. Hence, it is proven that having long weekends is a positive development.
Finally, longer weekends allow people to break from their busy routine for mental health. As many people have problems in a busy urban lifestyle, they require proper time to restore focus and reset mentally.
To sum up, I believe that longer weekends may lead to positive development. Not only because of spending time with family and household tasks, but also for cell repair and mental health.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have clearly stated your position in the introduction and maintained it throughout the essay. Each paragraph introduces a relevant point, such as family time, household management, and mental health. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the reference to Finland and Japan lacks specific, verifiable detail and feels slightly generic. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples are more thoroughly explained rather than just mentioned. The conclusion is a bit repetitive, merely restating the points without adding a final thought or synthesis. Overall, you have addressed all parts of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use transition signals like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Finally' to guide the reader. However, some of the cohesive devices are used in a slightly mechanical or repetitive way. For instance, starting multiple sentences with 'As' or 'Not only because' creates a somewhat fragmented flow. Additionally, some sentences are quite short, which affects the overall cohesion. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the flow and logical progression of your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'happiness index', 'mental health', and 'urban lifestyle' appropriately. However, the vocabulary is somewhat basic and lacks the precision or sophistication required for higher bands. There are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'cell repair' in the conclusion, which is an unusual collocation in this context. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and less common lexical items to express your ideas with greater nuance and precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. For example, sentence fragments like 'Not only because long weekends offer time...' and 'As long hours of duty every week can negatively affect personal life' are grammatically incomplete. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'there most of people'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall clarity and professional tone of the essay. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors will help.
