Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many developed countries, it is argued that weekends should be extended for the workers. consequently, working days should be reduced. I strongly disagree with this view. From my perspective, the drawbacks of having extended holidays outweigh the benefits. This essay will explain a few reasons to clarify my opinion.
Some proponents believe that shorter working week will be beneficial for the society. There are some benefits of it. It will helps employees to rejuvenate during long weekends. Employees will have to work only few days of the week, on remaining days they spend time with their family which enhances the bond between families. For instance, if working days become limited and workers get more holidays, they will be able to give quality of time to their children and families. It will prove beneficial for the growth of their children and to built strong connection with their families which is not possible to built during hectic routine.
However, there are more disadvantages of having extended weekends. It will increases the stress level of employers during weekdays because they will have to complete their tasks at limited time, which will rise the load on workers. Subsequently, due to more stress and workload the mental health of employees will be affected and companies will suffer financial crisis due to limited working hours. For instance, when working days reduce, administration will stress the employees to complete the tasks at limited time. For that they will have to work late night and do overtime during working days to finish their assignment Consequently, they will be sick to due to continue work under pressure which can be detrimental for the companies as well as employees.
In conclusion, while there are a few benefits of having longer weekends, the disadvantages of having health issues are serious. Hence I strongly believe that there shouldn't be shorter weekends. The current system is better and well balanced for both the organization and the workers.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments are relevant, focusing on family benefits versus workplace stress. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding 'stress' and 'workload' in the third paragraph is restated in different ways without adding significant new depth. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced examples or explore the economic implications of a shorter working week more thoroughly. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance, though it could be more sophisticated in its final synthesis of the two sides of the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use cohesive devices such as 'consequently,' 'however,' and 'for instance' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, particularly the frequent use of 'for instance' to introduce examples. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear; for example, in the second paragraph, 'There are some benefits of it' is a bit vague. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the flow of your writing and help you achieve a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'rejuvenate,' 'detrimental,' and 'financial crisis' appropriately. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, you write 'to built strong connection' instead of 'to build a strong connection' and 'complete their tasks at limited time' instead of 'within a limited time.' These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit your score. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that your word forms (e.g., build vs. built) are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'It will helps' instead of 'It will help' and 'It will increases' instead of 'It will increase') and preposition usage (e.g., 'sick to due to continue work'). These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text. To improve, pay closer attention to basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that your complex sentences are constructed accurately. Increasing your control over these fundamental areas will significantly improve your score.
