Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this time, everyone works to get their incomes. A significant number of people do corporate jobs where schedule is alway tight. People are neck dipped in their regular task. They all look forward to the weekend to live free of all for a responsibility free life. But these period of calm ends with a blink of an eye.

Working throughout the week mentally and physically exhaust the people, which cause for such question to get into light. I would agree that weekends should be longer, so that people can actually pent up their stress and get a good break. If a dedicated and workoholic is asked this question, they would definetly disagree. Because when you are doing something you love, you are already enjoying yourself. They would spend much of their time working on any anticipated project.

On the other hand, someone who is working hard but they prefer a good work-life balance would strongly agree. For example, many people go on trips or meet old friends.

In my opinion, I would strongly agree for a more loner time of enjoyment. weekends should be prolonged for people are most productive when fully comfortable.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you clearly state your position in favor of a longer weekend, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or depth. The points regarding work-life balance and productivity are mentioned but not explored in enough detail to fully address the prompt. To improve, you must expand on your reasoning with more specific examples and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for a more comprehensive discussion of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is somewhat mechanical. While you use some cohesive devices like 'On the other hand' and 'In my opinion', the transitions between sentences are occasionally abrupt. The logical progression is present, but the brevity of the response makes it difficult to establish a strong, cohesive argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence supported by well-developed ideas will help improve the overall structure and flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision expected at higher bands. There are some awkward phrasings, such as 'neck dipped in their regular task' and 'pent up their stress', which are not standard collocations. You also have some spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'workoholic' (workaholic) and 'loner time' (longer time). To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that your word choices are natural and contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'schedule is alway tight' (missing article), 'these period of calm' (subject-verb agreement), and 'cause for such question to get into light' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is also inconsistent in places. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and refining your sentence structure to ensure that your complex sentences are grammatically accurate and clearly convey your intended meaning.
