Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The essay addresses the prompt but lacks a clear, consistent position. While the introduction mentions a 'constructive experience', the conclusion is contradictory, stating both that the working week should be shorter and that there should not be extended vacations. The ideas are under-developed and repetitive. For example, the argument regarding economic loss during the pandemic is vague and lacks a logical link to the concept of a shorter working week. To improve, you should ensure your position is clearly stated in the introduction and maintained throughout the essay, providing more specific and relevant supporting evidence for each point.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or incorrect, such as 'On. The first hand hand' and 'One in other hand'. These phrases are used incorrectly and disrupt the flow of ideas. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow the argument. To improve, focus on using transition signals more accurately and ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea that links back to your main thesis.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'employers should have extend holidays' (likely meaning employees) and 'give their few time'. The term 'lesieur' is a misspelling of 'leisure'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and word forms. Avoid repeating the same phrases and try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary to convey your points effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence structure. For example, 'if masses have a less time' and 'there was a diseases corona'. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often faulty. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, specifically the correct use of articles, pluralisation, and verb tenses. Proofreading for common errors like 'a extend' (an extended) will also help improve your accuracy.
