Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, it can be witnessed that, people are overworking at their job centres, this situation leads to many problems like they do not get the time to maintain their mental health, also they do not get to manage their stress and anxiety along with problems like they do not have enough time to spend with their beloved ones, so I definitely agree with the notion that working days should be reduced and weekend should be extended.
To start with, as these days people are getting overwork, so it will be very beneficial if there working days should be reduced, as it will help them regain good mental heath on weekends as they will have more time to relax and practice some activities to focus on their health and well being. For example, in many MNC's of Europe they offer flexible working week schedule in which they offer longer weekends which help their workers to get more time for themselves.
Moreover, these days many people are struggling to get quality time with their family and friends because of work. Thus by reducing working week or hours they can get more superior time to spend with their loved ones. Additionally, it can help them to be more involved in family events. For instance, in India many workers get shorter working days according to their performances or in festival seasons which help them to get more involved in activities with their family or get more time to spend with them.
To conclude, in today's hectic life it is very favourable if employees get more time for weekends and less time to work on weekdays as it will help them in various ways like more time to spend on ensuring their well being and spending time with loved ones.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding mental health and work-life balance are relevant and supported by examples, such as the mention of European MNCs and the Indian work context. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive, and the analysis could be deepened by exploring the potential drawbacks or the broader societal impact of a shorter working week to achieve a higher band. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, ensuring the position remains consistent.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'Moreover', and 'Thus' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by repetitive sentence structures and some mechanical transitions. Referencing is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be more sophisticated to avoid a slightly formulaic feel. Overall, the progression of ideas is logical and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'notion', 'hectic', and 'favourable'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'job centres' (usually refers to employment offices) instead of 'workplaces' or 'offices', and 'get overwork' instead of 'are overworked'. The range is sufficient but lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and article usage (e.g., 'as these days people are getting overwork', 'if there working days should be reduced'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences that could be improved by better use of commas or semicolons. Despite these errors, they do not impede communication, and the writer demonstrates a basic control of complex structures.
