Student answer (Band 5.5)

The working week should be shorter and workers should have a longer weekend. This act can beneficial for the workers. there are many advantages like better work-life experience, less stress and more family time. This behave have also many disadvantages. In this essay we will discuss about the advantages, disadvantages and agreements.

At the beginning, if this action will happen then this will very useful for the workers. Firstly, workers will be able to spent their most time in their personal activities. They can spend their time with their families. Moreover, They will have less stress for their duty. After taking the rest their stress and tiredness will remove. Furthermore, workers will have the plenty of time to spent with their family. They can also go for outing with their children. this is also a refreshment for them.

On the other hand, this has many negative aspects also. In the first, when the working hours will shorter then their income will also lower. This will be very difficult for the daily wage workers to meet their expenses. Additionally, the other downside is higher business costs. Companies will hire new workers to complete their projects. Paying same wage to both workers will be very costly for the company. Due to the longer weekends, it will be hard to complete the projects for the workers in least days.

In conclusion, This is necessary for the workers to get longer weekends, because it is important for the workers to reduce their stress and to give time to their families, but this may the cause of loss for companies. In my opinion, besides extend the weekends companies should give rest to the workers at the end of month. This will be have a good and positive effect.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of a shorter working week. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument regarding business costs is mentioned but not fully explored in terms of economic impact. The position is clear, but the conclusion introduces a new, slightly contradictory suggestion (rest at the end of the month) rather than reinforcing the main argument. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more detailed explanation and a concrete example to support the claims made.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression of ideas could be more sophisticated to achieve a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'workers', 'time', and 'stress'. Some word choices are unnatural or incorrect, such as 'This act can beneficial' (should be 'can be beneficial') and 'this behave have' (should be 'this behavior has'). To improve, focus on using a wider variety of synonyms and more precise collocations related to employment and economics, such as 'productivity', 'remuneration', or 'operational costs'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'if this action will happen then this will very useful' (incorrect conditional structure), 'spent their most time' (incorrect usage), and 'This will be have a good' (incorrect verb phrase). Punctuation is generally functional, but the errors in verb tense and word order occasionally impede the flow of the text. Increasing the accuracy of basic sentence construction and mastering conditional forms would significantly improve this score.
