Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that the number of working week are decreased while employees should be given more time off at weekends. I completely agree with the view because people spend their time for their family & friends and they have time to relax.
Firstly, a shorter working week can improve employee productivity. If a person has limited working days it will help them to keep their mind fresh and energetic. It leads to increase their concentration on work as well as it encourage to be proactive. This result in increase their sales as well as it motivate to other employees. For instance: An employee have a fixed 5 days work and 2 days off. It will increase their performance and when they return to work feeling refreshed and motivated. In addition, company have attract their employees to do overtime & to get a extra reward, it helps in encourage both people and company and helps those who are in need.
Secoundaly, longer weekend can improve people lives. Worker spend more time with their family, they can continue their hobby, and taking care of their responsibility. This result in reduce their stress and improve personal well-being for example: a person can spend more time with their children an extra daly off quality. Moreover, an employee can go on a short trip during weekend, it will boost their mind when they will back to work.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that the working week should be extended because this can improve person productivity and quality time with their family and friend. As well as company give extra reward for extra time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument regarding productivity is stated but not fully explored with sophisticated reasoning. Additionally, there is a significant contradiction in the conclusion where you state the working week should be 'extended' instead of 'shorter', which confuses the reader regarding your stance. To improve, ensure that your supporting points are distinct and that your conclusion accurately reflects the position taken in the introduction and body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion' to link your points. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is unclear, such as the phrase 'This result in increase their sales' which lacks a clear antecedent. The flow between sentences is occasionally interrupted by grammatical errors, which makes the progression feel slightly disjointed at times. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'improve people lives' and 'increase their performance'. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'extra daly off quality' and 'it will boost their mind'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of more sophisticated or academic vocabulary limits the score. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and topic-specific terminology related to labor and work-life balance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the number of working week are decreased', 'company have attract'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'it encourage to be proactive'), and missing articles. While you attempt complex structures, they are often faulty, such as 'when they will back to work'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable throughout the text. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your accuracy.
