Student answer (Band 5.0)

Whether workers should have shorter working weeks or it should be longer weekend is a debatable topic today .

Although there are few plus points of working weeks or should be shorter than having a longer weekend . I believe that workers should have less working weeks as a worker I genuinely think that having more weekend destroy the mindset and gives the space to become lazy . I also not agree with continue working but having less weeks gives the workers more conservative about them .

One of the biggest perks of having less work weeks gives a worker to give time to themselves and to the family due to work , workers usually absent in family functions or other activities.

For example as a professional nurse I usually missed the function which are organised by the village leaders after the heavy work I had left the late functions that has made by community that are new year’s celebrations or graduation of students etc .

If we the workers get less working weeks or week we may get to participate in those functions which can also be healthy to family too .

Moving to the drawbacks due to longer weekend can be hard to companies or health centres . Another negative factor is giving long weekends can cause individual to get tired easily and they may get used to it .

In conclusion , thought of giving less work weeks as a has varies merits such as worker can get in touch in local functions and enjoy with families. I think participants and getting in contact or involving in those small things can change the way of living and also gives a fresh mind .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt, but the position is inconsistent and confusing. In the introduction, you state that you believe workers should have shorter weeks, but you also claim that 'having more weekend destroy the mindset and gives the space to become lazy.' This contradiction makes your overall argument unclear. While you provide a personal example as a nurse to support the benefits of more time off, the discussion of the drawbacks is underdeveloped and lacks depth. To improve, ensure your position is clearly defined in the introduction and maintained throughout the essay without self-contradiction. Ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often hindered by awkward phrasing and unclear transitions. For example, the transition 'Moving to the drawbacks due to longer weekend' is grammatically incorrect and disrupts the flow. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or misused, such as 'I also not agree with continue working but having less weeks gives the workers more conservative about them.' The relationship between ideas is frequently obscured by these structural issues. Using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' 'on the other hand') would help improve the flow of your arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'plus points,' 'perks,' and 'drawbacks.' There are several instances of incorrect word choice, such as 'workers usually absent in family functions' (should be 'are absent from') and 'gives the workers more conservative about them,' which is unclear. The phrase 'having less work weeks' is used repeatedly rather than using synonyms or more precise terminology. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more academic vocabulary and ensure that your collocations are natural and accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('having more weekend destroy'), incorrect verb forms ('I usually missed the function'), and sentence fragments or run-on sentences. The structure is largely simple, and attempts at complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'If we the workers get less working weeks or week we may get to participate in those functions which can also be healthy to family too.' You need to focus on basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that prepositions are used correctly.
