Student answer (Band 6.5)
The working days in a week should be less and people should be able to enjoy long weekend with their family, and I completely agree with this statement, because I think that it will help them perform better in their work.
I am convinced that there are plenty of benefits of a shorter work week and longer weekend, as it will help the workers improve their efficiency, and productivity in doing their job. People will get more time to enjoy with their family and friends, and it will work as a stress reliever for them. Having a healthy social life plays a vital role in improving focus on work, and act as a catalyst in improving the performance of employees.
Moreover, workers can spend time in recreational activities, and playing sports such as, badminton and swimming, which will improve their physical and mental health. Shorter working days will also benefit the company, as they can save some money by paying less salary to the employees, and they can also save some money on electricity bills. In addition to that, the same working space can be used for different community activities such as, arranging a seminar or language classes for general public. For example, my school was used as a tutoring centre in afternoons and on weekends, and owner was able to generate good income from it.
In conclusion, I am convinced that the working days in a week should be less, and employees should be able to enjoy longer weekend, so they can have a good balance of family and work life, and can cherish a healthy physical and mental health.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by clearly taking a position agreeing that the working week should be shorter and a longer weekend provided. The ideas are relevant and supported with explanations regarding efficiency, mental health, and company benefits. For example, the student notes that shorter working days allow workers to spend time in recreational activities and help companies save on electricity bills. However, some arguments, such as the company paying less salary or using the workspace for community activities, are slightly unconventional or under-developed in terms of practical economic reality. The position is maintained throughout the essay. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, placing it firmly in the band 6.0 to 6.5 range.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is coherent overall with a clear logical arrangement from the introduction through the body paragraphs to the conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, separating the family benefits, recreational/company benefits, and concluding thoughts. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions, such as 'Moreover', 'In addition to that', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally mechanical, and some sentences are joined together rather loosely with coordinating conjunctions like 'and', which slightly affects the seamless flow of ideas. Despite these minor limitations, the logical progression is clear throughout the text, warranting a solid score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating topic-related terms such as 'efficiency', 'productivity', 'stress reliever', and 'recreational activities'. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, though some collocations and word choices are slightly awkward or inaccurate, such as 'cherish a healthy physical and mental health' or 'paying less salary to the employees'. Spelling is generally accurate throughout the text. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the message clearly, it lacks the precision and flexibility characteristic of higher band levels.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, using subordinating clauses such as 'because I think that it will help them' and 'as it will help the workers improve'. There are some grammatical errors and awkward structures present, such as 'The working days in a week should be less' instead of 'shorter', and 'and owner was able to generate' missing an article before owner. Punctuation is generally acceptable, though commas are occasionally misused before conjunctions, such as 'sports such as, badminton'. The errors present do not impede communication, and the writer shows a reasonable degree of control over basic structures and some complex forms.
