Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argued by some people that holiday should have longer period and working days should be shorter. Although some might agree with this notion, I completely disagree with this. Not only because of industries effect, economic fall and people are lazy.

There are multiple disadvantage associated with this topic. Firstly, industries effect are the leading disadvantage of this. As due to longer weekend people should not complete the industries work on time. Take an example, last year International Company of China, gave a longer weekend of her employs as result they should not achieve his goal on time so it suffered a lot of losses. Hence, this point prove shorter weekend is better then longer weekend.

Secondly, economic effect also another leading disadvantage of this. As industries suffered in big loss so they should not paid a big taxes. For instance, in 2030 the economy of Nepal, should fall because industries could not paid a tax. Thus, this point prove that longer weekend effect the economy.

Finally, people should be lazy are the another cause of disagree. As people should work shorter so they are not able to work hard. Thus, this point prove that lazy people are the another leading cause of longer weekend.

To sum up, longer weekend should have some advantage, I believe that in term of industries effect, people are lazy and economic effect lead the this working of shorter weekend have more disadvantage as compare of advantage. Thus, I completely disagree with this statement.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position of complete disagreement with the statement. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitious. The arguments presented rely heavily on assertions regarding 'industries effect', 'economic effect', and 'people are lazy' without providing deep exploration or sophisticated examples. The example regarding an 'International Company of China' and the prediction about Nepal in 2030 are simplistic and lack realistic contextual support. While all parts of the task are addressed, the ideas remain underdeveloped, placing this performance at Band 5.0 according to the task response descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, including an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing some basic organisation. However, progression is hindered by repetitive transitional phrases and mechanical cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Finally'. Furthermore, referencing is frequently unclear, as seen in sentences like 'As industries suffered in big loss so they should not paid a big taxes'. The overall logical flow is disrupted by structural awkwardness and limited variation in cohesion, which aligns with Band 5.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple terms such as 'industries', 'losses', 'longer weekend', and 'lazy'. There are numerous noticeable word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'industries effect', 'economic fall', and 'people should be lazy are the another cause of disagree'. These errors and the limited range of vocabulary mean the vocabulary is minimally adequate for the task, reflecting a Band 4.5 to 5.0 level. I have awarded a Band 5.0 as the meaning remains generally decipherable despite the limitations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response features a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences predominate, and attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty, characterised by persistent errors in verb tense, subject-verb agreement, and modal usage (e.g., 'people should not complete the industries work', 'longer weekend effect the economy'). Punctuation and grammatical errors are frequent and often cause difficulty or confusion for the reader, matching the criteria for Band 4.0.
