Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The student addresses the prompt by clearly stating their agreement with the notion that the working week should be shorter and weekends longer. The main position is maintained throughout the response. Relevant ideas such as family time, skill development, and physical and mental health are introduced to support the argument. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, and some sentences suffer from fragmented or unclear expression, which places the response comfortably at Band 5.5 to 6.0. Because the ideas are relevant and the position is clear, it fulfills the criteria for a Band 6.0 in Task Achievement, though further extension and less repetition would be required for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is structured into an introduction, supporting body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing a clear attempt at paragraphing. However, logical progression is frequently hindered by awkward transitions, sentence fragments, and repetitive phrasing, such as 'To make it clear, Because of busy sechdule they not get time...'. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or inaccurately used (e.g., 'Apart from this', 'In addition, it also the so it is better'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, which disrupts the flow of the argument. Overall, the structural arrangement gives it an overall coherence, but the mechanical and faulty cohesion points towards a Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with words like 'time', 'family', 'money', and 'skills' appearing frequently. There are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'sechdule', 'exercite', 'satification', and 'pysical', alongside incorrect collocations like 'sale food' and 'give take care of health'. The lexical range is minimally adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey basic ideas, but frequent inaccuracies and limited uncommon vocabulary restrict the score to a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but many complex attempts are faulty and incomplete (e.g., 'if also reduce stress because they no need to spend long hours in offices on want which is also equally important'). There are frequent grammatical errors in subject-verb agreement, verb tenses, and article usage, such as 'employee should hang get more time', 'they have not get spend time', and 'each and everyond'. Punctuation is also erratic in places. These frequent errors cause occasional difficulty for the reader, placing the grammar at a Band 5.0.
