Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is argued that the working week should be shorter and employees should get a longer weekend. I completely agree with this statement as workers get to spend their precious time with their family.
To begin with, workers only get a day-off their from work in this growing economy where employment is in demand. Due to this employees get extremely less time to spend with their family and friends. Most workers do not complete their private works as they have to work every day. If they have a longer weekend they will have time to spend with their peers and family. For instance, an individual who has to work 6 days a week will only have a day to allocate to their family which is bearly enough. Whereas if workers have longer weekend they can visit their parents every weekend and finish their pending tasks.
When provided longer weekends they can focus on the work as they can recharge during this period. The worker's cognitive skills will improve and can focus on their work more effectiently. This improves the quality of work which inturn increases the profits of the company.
Along with the benefits there are also cretain drawbacks having a longer weekend. In areas such as the healthcare requires workers throughout the year due to which the number of working days are high. To overcome this situation enough doctors are required which is difficult as there numbers are dropping significantly in countries like Canada according to a research.
In conclusion, having shorter working days benefits employees by giving them enough time to spend with their family and recover from work. This is extremely important to concentrate on work. Whereas in crucial areas it is difficult to overcome the problem of shortage of labour.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing with the idea of a shorter working week and longer weekends. The main ideas, such as spending time with family, recovering energy, and increasing work efficiency, are relevant and supported with explanations and examples. However, the development of ideas tends to be a bit repetitive, and the inclusion of a counter-argument paragraph regarding healthcare introduces some confusion regarding the writer's stance, as it discusses labor shortages rather than focusing purely on the consequences of the proposed policy. Despite this minor digression, the task is addressed reasonably well, earning a band score of 6.0 according to the descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, such as family benefits, productivity gains, and drawbacks. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or faulty, as seen with phrases like "To begin with" and "inturn", and referencing is occasionally unclear. There is a logical progression overall, but transitions between ideas could be smoother. This level of organisation and cohesion aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting some less common items such as "cognitive skills," "efficiently," and "significantly." However, there are several spelling and word-choice errors, including "bearly" instead of barely, "effectiently" instead of efficiently, "inturn" instead of in turn, and "cretain" instead of certain. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they restrict the lexical score to Band 6, where some inaccuracies in spelling and word choice persist.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional clauses ("If they have a longer weekend they will have...") and relative clauses. However, there are noticeable grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, including missing prepositions ("day-off their from work"), punctuation errors (missing commas before conjunctions), and agreement issues ("as there numbers are dropping"). These errors occur with some frequency but rarely impede communication, placing the response solidly in the Band 6 category.
