Student answer (Band 6.0)
The usual week have five working days and workers have two days weekend. Some people think that workers should have a longer weekend. I largly agree with the suggestion as reducing working days will cast postive impact on family and social life of people in a society.
Worldwide there are usually five working days with an average range of 42 to 45 hours per week. The working of all major aspects of life such as business, transport, travel and education are based on a traditional system of five days a week working. The two day weekends are spared for pending chores and relaxtion for working individuals. This system has long been used for smooth running of different fields of life. Furthermore, with globalisation and development of telecommiunication there is an increase in the competation for business opportunities. Likewise, in some underdeveloped countries there are long shifts and increase in the working hours to deal with the economic crisis. In such circumstances, working days should not be shortened as it will impare normal function of life and economic crisis.
On the contrary, the data of time allocation by workers have changed considerably in last few decades. people mow have less reaxing and sleeping time as compared to before.Similarly, some fields of life such as medical, professionals are working upto 60 hours a week and have little time to relax. Consequently, quality of life is detoriorating due to increase in work pressure distorting normal family system and increasing tensions within the relationships. Longer wekends might help to restore normal lifestyle and reduce stress.
In conclusion, I believe that althought shortening of working days might cause negative economic consequences, it will help to promote healthy work-life balance.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position and supporting it with relevant ideas. The writer acknowledges both sides of the argument, noting that while shortening the work week might cause negative economic consequences, it promotes a healthy work-life balance. For instance, the student states, 'reducing working days will cast positive impact on family and social life.' However, some ideas lack full extension and suffer from generalisation, such as the brief mention of underdeveloped countries and economic crises. Overall, the response meets the criteria for Band 6.0 as it addresses the prompt adequately, though certain points could be developed with greater depth and specific examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance established in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to divide the introduction, background arguments, opposing views, and conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. For example, transition phrases like 'On the contrary' and 'Similarly' are used, but referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'people mow have less reaxing'. The logical progression is somewhat hindered by abrupt shifts between sentences, placing this response firmly in Band 6.0 for logical organization and cohesive device management.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'globalisation', 'telecommunication', and 'work-life balance'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'largly' instead of 'largely', 'postive' instead of 'positive', 'relaxtion', 'impare', 'detoriorating', and 'althought'. Despite these inaccuracies, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the writer's meaning without significantly impeding communication, aligning with the descriptors for Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'Some people think that workers should have a longer weekend' and 'Furthermore, with globalisation and development of telecommunication there is an increase in the competition for business opportunities.' There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly subject-verb agreement ('The usual week have'), missing articles ('in last few decades'), and capitalization issues ('people mow'). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede overall communication. The command of grammar and punctuation best fits the Band 6.0 descriptor.
