Student answer (Band 5.0)

I agree that the working weeks should be shorter and the workers should get the longer weeekend. Shorter working weeks help employees in productivity and growth. They take rest that results in improvement in growth productivity, and they can foucus even more better on the work. In longer weekends employees can spend more time with their family that makes thier life happy, they can take exercise that also makes thier health even more better.

Shorter weekends effects the growth and productivity of the employees. When a person get the time to rest, exercise, and enjoy with his loved ones he can give better performance. When the performnace of an employee is better than past it helps him in his growth and he can focus on his work more better. As the employees have shorter weekend they can get less time to focus on themself, it effects their growth and cause of mental trauma that result in downfall in their work also in personal life.

On the longer weekends, employees get more time to spend with thier family, friends and also get time to focus on themself by doing exercise, short trip with their loved ones. It also make them more active and passionate about their work. They can focus on thier work as well as themself. When a person spend a happy and enjoyable time with their loved ones his brain become more active and help him to take decision of thier work and personal life wisely.

Shorter working weeks is beneficial for both emplyees and employers in the growth and productivity.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The student addresses the prompt by clearly agreeing that working weeks should be shorter and weekends longer. A position is presented and maintained throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, as the same points regarding productivity, rest, and family time are reiterated across multiple paragraphs without introducing fresh dimensions or fully extending the arguments with concrete examples. For instance, the second paragraph states that a shorter weekend affects growth, which appears to be a slip of the pen or confusion of terms since the student elsewhere argues for longer weekends. Despite these minor repetitions and underdeveloped extensions, the main parts of the task are adequately addressed, earning a Band 6.0 according to the descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance, but the logical progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and some mechanical transitions. Paragraphing is attempted, but the paragraphs are brief and lack internal cohesion. For example, the transition between discussing employer-employee benefits and personal life is abrupt. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'it effects their growth and cause of mental trauma'. Cohesive devices are basic and sometimes inaccurate, placing the response firmly at Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully employing words like 'productivity', 'employers', and 'passionate'. However, there are numerous word choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'even more better' and 'focus on themself' instead of 'focus on themselves'. Spelling errors are also present, including 'weeekend', 'foucus', 'thier', and 'performnace'. Because these errors occasionally impede communication or cause slight ambiguity, particularly around plural forms and verb-adjective pairings, the vocabulary corresponds to a Band 5.0 level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'When a person gets the time to rest... he can give better performance.' However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'working weeks is beneficial'), incorrect comparative forms ('more better'), and missing articles or pluralisation errors. Punctuation is also basic and occasionally incorrect. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader, matching the Band 5.0 descriptor where frequent grammatical errors persist.
