Student answer (Band 5.0)

In this moderan work mkst of the compnies are folly the patteren in which they increased the weekend and decreased the weekday. i belive that its a good method as workers drain the stress in weekends and they can stronger family and social bonding .

to begin with geting long weekends can make a people more relex and make the them more productive as people can spend time to visiting new places witch give them peace of mind and can increase their ability to do more work not only with fresh mind but also with body .for instance a survey conducted by US shows the shoking results in with a software company found people those get long weekeds are more mentaly and phycaly fit and are more able to solve difficults problems reather then those are taking only one day off. there for giving more off day in week make people productive.

moreover , getting long weekends give chace to people to do their family and social bonding stronger , as in this moderan era most of people have nuclear families in which both parents are working and they did not get any time to spend with family due to less days off in week . geting shoter week days can give them chance to spend their off time with family and friends which make their bonding stronger .for example on the long weekeds most of the cities are busy like vancuver due to family gatherings .

in colclusion although short weekeds make to company more geting working hours , peopel with less rest are not able to do that work which they can with relex body and mind and it also creats more family bonding . i believe that geting lesser week days are more benificial than geting shoter weekends .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt directly by taking a clear position that shorter working weeks and longer weekends are beneficial. The student presents main ideas regarding productivity, stress reduction, and family bonding, supporting them with a general example of a US software company and Vancouver traffic. However, the development is somewhat limited and relies on sweeping generalisations without deeper elaboration. While all parts of the task are addressed, the ideas remain relatively basic and lack the extension required for a higher band. Frequent spelling mistakes and phrasing issues also obscure some of the intended meaning, which slightly weakens overall task communication. Nevertheless, a clear stance is maintained from introduction to conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into four paragraphs, following a traditional introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Basic cohesive devices are attempted, such as 'to begin with', 'moreover', and 'in conclusion'. However, paragraphing and sentence transitions are mechanically handled, and referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'make the them more productive'). The overall progression of ideas is present, but it is disrupted by erratic punctuation, missing conjunctions, and run-on phrasing. While the text has a discernible logical structure, the lack of smooth, varied cohesive devices and poor sentence boundary control place this response firmly in the middle bands.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, featuring frequent spelling errors ('moderan' instead of modern, 'mkst' instead of most, 'folly' instead of following, 'patteren' instead of pattern, 'relex' instead of relaxed, 'witch' instead of which, 'shoking' instead of shocking, 'weekeds' instead of weekends, 'mentaly' instead of mentally, 'phycaly' instead of physically, 'chace' instead of chance, 'shoter' instead of shorter, 'vancuver' instead of Vancouver, 'colclusion' instead of conclusion, 'creats' instead of creates, 'benificial' instead of beneficial). While the student attempts less common lexical items like 'productivity' and 'bonding', the high density of spelling and word-formation errors impedes communication and lowers the lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The student demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences predominate, and attempts at complex structures are consistently marred by persistent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'most of the compnies are folly', 'people those get long weekeds'), missing articles, and incorrect prepositions. Punctuation is largely inaccurate, with multiple spaces, missing capitalisation for proper nouns, and misplaced commas. Errors are frequent throughout the response and frequently strain the reader, meaning the control of grammar and punctuation falls below the standard required for a Band 5.0.
