Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's fast-paced world, mostly people spend their entire week in working in their jobs or a bussiness. They don't give much time to their family and friends. Some people believe that working weekdays should be reduced and the weekend should be extented. I strongly agree with this view because a longer weekend can improve the mental and physical health of the workers and may helps in increasing their productivity.

Firstly, having a longer weekends can help worker to make their life well balanced. They can spend their time with their families which will helps them to reduce stress and anxiety. If they have longer working weekdays it can cause depression or stress to worker. But in longer weekends they can meet up with their friends and do whatever they want. As a result, they may return to work feeling more refreshed

Secondly, reducing work hour doesn't mean less productivity. Companies may get more productivty from the refreshed worker. Workers who work longer time they get tired and make mistakes in their work . But longer weekends definately refresh workers mental health and physical health they can work with their fully potential. Companies could get potentially benefits from their employes because heathier and happier employes may perform better.

In conclusion, I strongly agree with the statement to reduce working hours and expanding weekends because it will hepls workers to give time to their personal lifes so that they should not get the work pressure and stress ,it is important for their healthier and happier life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position agreeing with the prompt and supporting it with relevant ideas concerning health, stress reduction, and productivity. The introduction clearly states the writer's stance. The body paragraphs attempt to develop ideas about work-life balance and employee efficiency. However, the development remains somewhat repetitive and lacks specific examples or depth. For instance, the discussion on productivity relies on general assertions rather than concrete illustrations. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, placing it firmly at Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is generally coherent with an overall logical arrangement. The text is divided into four paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' are used to structure the text, though some referencing and transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. For example, phrases like 'longer weekends can help worker' and 'longer weekends definately refresh' show similar cohesive patterns. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, ensuring the reader can follow the main arguments without much difficulty. This performance corresponds to a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words such as 'fast-paced', 'productivity', 'refreshed', and 'well balanced'. However, there are numerous lexical errors and issues with word formation and collocation throughout the text. Examples include 'mostly people' instead of 'most people', 'bussiness' with a spelling error, 'extented' instead of 'extended', 'productivty' misspelled, and 'fully potential' instead of 'full potential'. These errors do not impede communication because the overall meaning remains clear, but they restrict the lexical score to Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'Some people believe that working weekdays should be reduced and the weekend should be extented.' There are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('may helps', 'worker to make', 'employes may perform'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing ('mostly people spend their entire week in working'). While the writer attempts complex structures, many contain errors or awkward phrasing. Nevertheless, meaning is generally clear, which aligns with the descriptors for Band 5.5.
