Student answer (Band 5.5)

I agree with the statement that the working week should not be shorter than the weekend. Because if the weekedns become longer, it will makes employees more lazy and they will find it difficult to get back to their work after a long, relaxing weekend. The rhythm they were in during their working days breaks, and getting back to it takes much longer; a task that can be completed in an hour then takes 2-3 hrs. The reason behind te difficulty to get back to the routine is that during their weekends, they used to stay up late at nights and woke up in the afternoon, now they have to reach their workspace early in the morning with little sleep , which alternatively affects their way of processing things and makes them feel exhausted. Additionally, most people spend their long weekends out of their town while hanging with friends and family and they start to like their life that way, away from work and stress enviorment, so when its time to go back to their work and face reality, the profession become to look like a burden to them. While if the weekends are short they get a chance to relax without .breaking the flow they were working with, and even have positive effect on the way they work. They can make better decisions and plans that can help them save their time and work with a peaceful mind. Overall weekends duration have a great effect on working people mind and it must be allowed for shorter time to avoid inconvenience.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The student addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against a shorter working week. Main ideas, such as the difficulty of re-adjusting to work routines and the temptation of leisure, are presented. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, tending to over-generalize rather than providing concrete, specific examples from real-world knowledge or experience as requested. The response satisfies the minimum length requirement easily at 261 words. To reach a higher band, the arguments need deeper extension and more varied supporting examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays a basic overall coherence, but the paragraphing is extremely poor, consisting of only a single massive block of text. This severely impacts the logical structure and readability of the response. While cohesive devices are attempted with words like 'Additionally', 'While', and 'Overall', referencing is sometimes unclear, and the mechanical flow suffers due to run-on sentences and missing punctuation. Ideas are linked sequentially, but the lack of paragraph breaks prevents the clear organization expected at higher bands.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The lexical range is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their general opinions. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'weekedns', 'te', 'enviorment', and 'profession become to look'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary like 'rhythm', 'exhausted', and 'inconvenience', but control is inconsistent, and errors occasionally cause minor hesitation for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical accuracy is weak. There are several run-on sentences joined inappropriately with commas, such as 'The rhythm they were in during their working days breaks, and getting back to it takes much longer...'. Errors in subject-verb agreement are also present, including 'it will makes employees more lazy'. While these errors do not completely obscure meaning, they occur with high frequency throughout the text.
