Student answer (Band 4.5)

I think so that is not good for the worker as well as for the company that the working week are shorter and the have the longer weekend because, if the working week are shorter then the worker not work well on their jobs and they will be not take resposibilities for the working hard. In this case worker will be thinking for comes their weekend and they not be able for such a long time to doing the work and they not work hard. for this happening the company should be face many problems and challenges because their worker are not be able to do work in the company they are on the weekend and company work not run into the finishing way then definatily company will faced the stress time. For example, If this happening if they have a long weekend then they might be disturb their routine of doing work and wake up timing. When the mostly people on their weekend they are not wake up early in the mornin and they are sleeping more time in their weekend so they might be disturb their daily routine, because its my own experianc that i know a person that leave near to my home.He have a long weekend and we not going for exercise and not wakeing up early in the morning but before it he`s waked up timely and joind me for exercixe and went his job. This thing is change his life routine and this is not good thing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response presents a clear position opposing shorter working weeks, arguing that it decreases productivity and disrupts routines. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The argument relies heavily on a single personal anecdote about a neighbor rather than exploring broader economic or social factors. Furthermore, some ideas are underdeveloped and lack clarity, such as the claim that 'company work not run into the finishing way'. This places the response firmly within Band 5, as it addresses the task and takes a position, but the ideas remain restricted and somewhat unconvincing due to a lack of extended support.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks proper paragraphing, consisting of one long, unbroken block of text which significantly hinders readability and organization. There is a general lack of logical progression, with ideas looping and repeating rather than building upon one another in a structured manner. Cohesive devices are basic and sometimes misused, such as 'For this happening' or 'For example, If this happening if they have a long weekend'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, making it difficult to follow the thread of the argument. These features reflect the characteristics of Band 4, where information and ideas are not arranged coherently and paragraphing is absent.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple words like 'work', 'weekend', 'good', and 'bad'. There are noticeable word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'taking responsibilities for the working hard', 'come their weekend', and 'stress time'. Spelling and morphological errors are also present, including 'resposibilities', 'definatily', 'experianc', and 'wakeing'. While the meaning can generally be understood despite these errors, the limited range and frequent inaccuracies constrain the score to Band 4.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying predominantly on simple sentences and overly long, run-on clauses linked by conjunctions like 'and' or 'because'. There are frequent and systematic grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the working week are shorter', 'the company should be face'), tense inconsistencies ('he`s waked up timely'), and incorrect prepositions or articles. These frequent errors often cause strain and difficulty for the reader, aligning with the descriptors for Band 4.
