Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is believed that the weekdays should be reduced, at the same time, the weekends to be longer for the people who work regularly. I strongly agree with this statement because the efficiency of the people has been increased than before for the advancement of science and technology. At the same time, people require time to reboot and reenergized which is not given enough.
Nowadays, in maximum cities around the world, people are seen working for 5 to 6 days every week. It has been following the past trends blindly without considering the facts. It is an undeniable fact that science and technology is advancing very fast. With the introduction of artificial intelligence systems, the production is manifold and the product delivery is almost instant. As a result, it is quite unnecessary for the people to work for such longer days. In some of the European countries, employees need to come to the workplace 4 days a week and have longer weekends as the employers don't feel the necessity to bring in the employees more than that.
Moreover, while working for 5-6 days every week, the workers get much lesser time for rewinding and reseting before going back to the work. As a result, the performance of the people keeps on dropping. This situation can be avoided very easily when the longer weekend concept will be taken seriously.
In conclusion, the ongoing rule of longer weekdays and shorter weekends should be rethought by taking the current situation into consideration where the work efficiency has got increased multiple times which actually eliminates the need of workers going to their jobs for longer days and the basic need for a prolonged break in order to work with the utmost efficiency.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response clearly addresses the prompt by taking a strong stance in agreement with shortening the working week and extending the weekend. The main ideas are relevant and supported with explanations regarding technological advancements, artificial intelligence, and employee well-being. However, while the position is clear, some ideas tend to over-generalise and lack concrete specific examples outside of a brief mention of European countries. The development is sufficient to meet the Band 6 requirements comfortably, as all parts of the task are addressed and supported, though further specific elaboration or real-world examples would elevate the score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is coherent overall with a clear progression from introduction to body paragraphs and a concluding summary. Paragraphing is utilised appropriately to separate different arguments, such as technological advancement and employee fatigue. Cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'As a result', and 'In conclusion' are used to connect ideas, though some transitional phrasing feels slightly mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, and the logical flow allows the reader to follow the argument without difficulty, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptor for logical organisation.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'efficiency', 'advancement', 'manifold', and 'prolonged break'. However, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies and awkward phrasing, such as 'reboot and reenergized' instead of 'reboot and reenergize', 'rewinding and reseting' instead of 'winding down and resetting', and 'got increased multiple times'. These word choice and spelling errors do not impede communication, but they reflect the characteristics of a Band 6 response where precision is occasionally lacking.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional structures. However, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text, including passive voice inaccuracies ('the weekdays should be reduced, at the same time, the weekends to be longer', 'It has been following the past trends') and awkward verb tense usage ('the efficiency of the people has been increased than before'). Punctuation and structural errors occur regularly, though they rarely impede overall communication, placing the response firmly at Band 6.
