Student answer (Band 4.5)

It is often argued that the working week should be shorter and workers should have a longer weekend. I completely agree with the idea that it will gives workers much more enjoyable time. I hold this view because of workers feel calmness and spend pretty good time with their families, both of which can have important impacts on individuals and society.

The primary reason why I support this view is that having a longer weekend it gives worker calmness. This is because working time is hard to a long shift hours staff geting exsushted, stress, anxiety, and, depprasion. In many workplace, a substantial amount of time is allocated to work, as it often necessitates the spending of a range of hours in the workplace such as a medical profetionals especially nurses. Nursing is quite challenging profession, at the same time nurses are deal with stressful situations with several patients. They dealing most of the time with stresses. Moreover, shorter working week its needed for them have to clamness. For example, doing short hours work it would be a good decision for all employers.

Another important reason is that it gives workers spending time with their families. In words, long-term hours for doing work it broke many families good relationship. This is perticularly important because family priority first, and having family is a sense of satisfactions. As a result, longer holidays can developed family bonding, produce breakup with any close relationship, and so on. although shorter week also impact a worker financial conditions due to short hours gave them less money.

In conclusion, short-term hours would be better for enjoying holidays with calmness and spending good time with families rather then spending longer week with working. I believe that aforementioned points are strongly support my viewpoint.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing with the proposition that working weeks should be shorter and weekends longer. Main ideas regarding mental well-being and family relationships are presented, and some examples are provided, such as mentioning nurses and medical professionals. However, the development of these ideas is frequently hindered by lack of clarity and repetitive reasoning. For instance, the discussion around stress and anxiety is reiterated multiple times without introducing new supporting points or deep analysis. Consequently, the response aligns best with Band 5, as the ideas are limited and under-developed, and the argument lacks cohesive extension across the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing basic structural awareness. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing sentence structures, such as starting the second body paragraph with 'having a longer weekend it gives worker calmness.' Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, and referencing is often unclear (e.g., 'In words, long-term hours for doing work it broke many families good relationship'). Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within the paragraphs is weak, meaning the overall progression is difficult to follow. This performance is characteristic of Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The student attempts some less common vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'profetionals', 'depprasion', and 'exsushted', but these are severely undermined by persistent spelling errors and incorrect word forms. There is a limited range of vocabulary used repetitively throughout the essay, with frequent errors in word choice and collocation (e.g., 'produce breakup with any close relationship' instead of 'prevent the breakdown of close relationships'). While the meaning can sometimes be guessed from context, the frequency of lexical errors causes noticeable difficulty and strain for the reader, fitting the Band 4 descriptor closely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent, heavy grammatical errors that impede communication, such as 'it will gives workers much more enjoyable time' and 'shorter working week its needed for them have to clamness.' Subject-verb agreement, verb tenses, and preposition usage are problematic throughout the text. Complex structures are almost always faulty, leading to sentences that are structurally garbled. Because errors are frequent and frequently distort meaning, the writing falls squarely into Band 4.
