Student answer (Band 6.0)
Since ages, it's a hot discussion topic wheather workers should be relieved more on weekends or not. I withstand to longer weekends idea in comparison to the shorter one because it not only increases productivity but also helps in overall well-being.
Commencing with the observations regarding the shorter weekend, it has been noted that workers who have to work 6 days a week are relatively less competent with almost no pro-active approach or fiscal laxity. Additionally, they seem distressed and over-burdened with lack of interest or being energetic towards their daily tasks achievement. For instance, medical practitioners are usually too rude towards replying or properly listening to their patients complaints because of less relaxation time leading to various kinds of health risks such as anxiety, depression or high blood pressure. Moreover, it also have a serious negative impact on the individual personality.
While on the other hand, longer weekends allows refreshment time, both physically and mentally, enhancing productivity and positive attitude towards work. It produces a sense of confidence to manage daily targets effectively. Not only this, it encourages to deal with various situations at workplace more efficiently, promotes congnitive abilities and balance between work-life routine. Similarly, a chance to spend more time with family and friends increases the adrenaline and dopamine which boost the energy levels. For example, when we look over the corporate employees, they always seem happy, fresh and satisfied. They have a polished personality and are more focused towards their goals rather than a tired soul and body.
Conclusively, longer weekends provide better overall well-being and enhaces one's productivity. It also helps in developing positive attitude and remarkable personality with a competitive mind having new and good ideas and fondness towards learning. However, pupil with shorter weekends always remain anxious, tired and comfortable with no growth or learning. This make them short-tempered and annoyed which ultimately damages their good sides.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by clearly taking a stance in favour of longer weekends and supporting it with relevant arguments. The writer presents ideas regarding productivity and well-being. However, there is a tendency to over-generalize and some arguments are slightly repetitive or lack fully developed specific real-world examples, relying instead on generalized statements like "medical practitioners are usually too rude" or "corporate employees, they always seem happy." These meet the criteria for Band 6.5 or 7.0. Because the main position is clear throughout and all parts of the task are addressed with extended ideas, a band score of 7.0 is well justified.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is arranged with clear paragraphing, each focusing on a distinct aspect of the prompt, starting with an introduction, body paragraphs contrasting short and long weekends, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Commencing with', 'Additionally', 'While on the other hand', and 'Conclusively' are employed to structure the response, though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or formulaic. Paragraph progression is logical, moving from the negative effects of short weekends to the positive impacts of longer ones. Referencing and substitution are generally clear, resulting in a cohesive flow that aligns with the Band 6.5 to 7.0 range. A score of 6.5 reflects the occasional heavy-handed use of cohesive markers.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student attempts a range of vocabulary with some less common items such as 'productivity', 'well-being', 'competent', and 'adrenaline'. However, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies, inappropriate collocations, and spelling/word formation errors throughout the text, such as 'wheather' instead of 'whether', 'fiscal laxity' (which is used incorrectly in context), 'congnitive' instead of 'cognitive', and 'enhaces' instead of 'enhances'. Furthermore, phrases like 'I withstand to longer weekends idea' are unidiomatic. These errors prevent the lexical score from reaching Band 7, but the adequate range and attempts at precision place it securely at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional or participial clauses like 'Not only this, it encourages to deal with...' and 'For example, when we look over...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'Since ages, it's a hot discussion topic', 'longer weekends allows' (subject-verb agreement error), 'it also have a serious negative impact', and 'pupil with shorter weekends'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but grammatical slips are common enough to impede fluent reading at times. This profile fits the Band 6.0 descriptor, where a mix of structures is used alongside persistent errors.
