Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many people think that the working hours for a worker should be longer during week. However, some believe that workers should have a longer weekend. In many countries employers do not have enough time for themselves. They work day and night and do not take any rest. So, in my opinion workers should have a longer weekend for self care and for their family.
There are many disadvantages for a shorter weekend. Many private staff doing 24/7 day work which can effect them badly. For example, They wake up early in the morning and go to office. Where they spend their whole day even some staff have to work over night. Hence, they can not take proper sleep which could harmful for their mental as well as physical health. Beside this, they do not have enough time for their beloved. They are too busy with work to spend time with family. As a result they become disconnected from their family
Whereas, a longer weekend can offer many benefits to an employer. First of all, they can take better care of themselves. A longer weekend can improve mental ablity of a staff. He become more productive and can creat new ideas after a long break from work. Secondly, employers can spend time with their family and friends. For example, when they have longer weekend they can make plan for outing with family or can go to a tour. Spending time with family can lead a positive effect on workers and they take more responsibility of family relations.
At the end, it is concluded that, a longer weekend could be more beneficial for a worker than a shorter weekend.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt directly by taking a clear position in favor of a longer weekend and shorter working week. Main ideas are presented, such as the negative impacts of 24/7 work on health and relationships, and the benefits of a longer weekend on productivity and personal life. However, some arguments tend to over-generalize and are occasionally under-developed. For instance, the transition from discussing employee wellbeing to employer benefits in the third paragraph shows slight confusion in terminology, referring to workers as 'employers'. Despite this minor confusion, all parts of the task are addressed with relevant supporting examples, fulfilling the descriptors for Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is generally coherent with a recognizable overall progression. Paragraphing is utilized effectively to separate the introduction, disadvantages of short weekends, advantages of long weekends, and the conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'For example' are employed to sequence ideas, although some cohesive links feel mechanical or slightly repetitive. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the interchangeable use of 'employee' and 'employer'. While logical organisation is evident, the minor mechanical faults in cohesion place this response solidly at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'productivity', 'over night', and 'physical health'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors that impede precision. For example, using 'employers' instead of 'employees' in several places creates confusion. Additionally, expressions like 'make plan for outing' and 'lead a positive effect' contain slight inaccuracies. Spelling and word formation errors also appear, such as 'ablity' and 'creat'. These limitations in precision and lexical control restrict the score to Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, attempting conditional and relative clauses. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('staff doing', 'staff have', 'they can not take proper sleep which could harmful'), missing articles ('go to office', 'on tour'), and preposition usage ('during week'). While these errors are noticeable and can cause slight difficulty for the reader, they do not completely impede communication. Because simple structures are generally handled better than complex ones, the grammar falls into the Band 5.5 category.
