Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this contemporary society, there is an ongoing debate as to whether have less workdays or to reduce the days of weekend. A substantial number of laborers are working nine to five which have numerous pros and cons. This essay will elucidate the purpose of this suggestion and impacts of this on not only the society but also on economy.

There are several reasons why this concept is extremely apealing to the employees. First and foremost, having an extended weekend can encourage workers to be more productive and deligent. In spite of having two days break several citizens does not consider it sufficient. In this way, they can have more time to spend time with their loved ones. Moreover, the major factor is that the individuals longed for leisure days to unwind. To illustrate, a learner of a primary school have a burden of homework and studies. Educational institutions does not pay much attention to this matter as they assume thet it is beneficial for their pupils. In the contrast, students longed for weekends to be free from the fierce competition and swamped schedule. Having a monotony routine can jeopardize children's health and their mental well-being.

On the other hand, this suggestion can be the reason of citizen's indolence. As a result, they would not go extra mile to achieve something in their life.

The adverse implications play significant role on the society. Having less days to work can have adverse effects on the business field. The firms can lose projects as there workers are having days off. In a nutshell, they would be unable to wrap up their work without passing deadlines. A case in point is an emploee who is at home and spending time with his family, while at home he can find bigger fishes to catch in lieu of working on his projects.

From my percpective, the disadvantage of this idea outweighs the benefits. Without feeling overwhelming a person can be inconsistence and careless. However, remote working is another solution to this issue. A number of companies have introduced this in their field which have beneficial ramifications without feeling under pressure.

To conclude, longer weekend's impacts depend on the citizens behavior and the module of their profession.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position that the disadvantages of a shorter working week outweigh the benefits. Ideas are developed, although the integration of a section about school students rather than workers is slightly off-topic and shifts the focus. The writer attempts to support arguments with examples, such as mentioning employees losing projects or working from home solutions, but some arguments remain underdeveloped or contain logical leaps, such as the claim that employees at home find 'bigger fishes to catch in lieu of working.' While the position is clear throughout, the inclusion of irrelevant educational examples prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Overall, it satisfies the requirements of Band 6 by presenting a relevant response with some well-developed ideas, though parts lack complete extension.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised, although the body paragraphs are somewhat dense and contain abrupt shifts in topic, such as jumping from employee productivity to school learners and then immediately back to worker indolence. Cohesive devices are employed, including transition markers like 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', and 'To illustrate', but referencing and logical progression are occasionally faulty. For instance, the transition between discussing school learners and the adverse implications of citizen indolence lacks smooth connective tissue. Additionally, paragraphing could be better managed to isolate distinct ideas rather than grouping contrasting notions together. These issues place the cohesion firmly at a Band 6 level.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'elucidate', 'indolence', 'jeopardize', and 'ramifications'. However, there are notable inaccuracies in word choice, spelling, and collocation. Examples include 'apealing' (spelling of appealing), 'deligent' (diligent), 'monotony routine' (monotonous routine), 'percpective' (perspective), and 'inconsistence' (inconsistent). Furthermore, idioms like 'bigger fishes to catch' are used inappropriately in an academic context. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning and allows for some flexibility, the persistent spelling and word-choice errors prevent the essay from achieving a Band 7.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several noticeable errors in subject-verb agreement and preposition use, such as 'whether have less workdays', 'nine to five which have', 'several citizens does not consider', 'Educational institutions does not pay', and 'there workers are having' (their workers). Punctuation and article usage also show lapses throughout the text. While these errors do not severely impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to demonstrate limited control over complex structures, aligning the grammar with the Band 5 descriptor.
