Student answer (Band 5.0)
The working week should be reduced and the employees should have a long weekend. I agree that working a lot make a person more stressful and effective mindset. It makes the workers feel exhausted as in this world of hurly and burly no one have enough time to sit at a place. Working reduced hours make a person feel calm, comfortable and confident. Longer weekend is invaluable for the employees to spend more time with their families. It helps to keep their mind fresh and make their morale stronger. I also disagree that shorter working make a worker lazy, unmotivated. Employees feel like escape prisoners and they don’t work properly in time.
The smaller working weeks reduce the stress lf daily challenges among workers. These challenges make them exhausted from the work. As they don’t work properly. For instance, every worker show positive feedback for reducing their work week. As everyone utterly ignores the significance of reducing hours for work and giving more time to family. In extra time the employees can go to park to enjoy natural beauty. It makes huge impact on their mind substantially for increasing a single company shares.
In contrast, the longer weekends and shorter working weeks can easily promote the bad views for not being a best or better worker in the workplace. As it usually makes the sense for not being able to persuade their heart to work more. It makes them feel relaxed and lazy as they become unusual person in society. For example, every kind of worker enjoys the weekend and after completing their weekend in fun activities. It commences the employee to not work with prosperity. The workers usually memorise about its earlier weekend activities that they enjoyed and for the upcoming weekends that they’ll do in it. It makes them to not concentrate in your work schedule properly.
In conclusion, the over weekends and reduce working weeks are not invaluable for the employees as it became a regular habits for the workers to keep their job with no abilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether the working week should be shorter and workers should have a longer weekend. A clear position is taken in the introduction supporting shorter working weeks and longer weekends. However, the development of ideas is somewhat contradictory and confused, particularly in the third paragraph where the writer appears to argue against longer weekends before pivoting. The ideas are occasionally repetitive, mentioning stress relief and family time multiple times without extending the reasoning smoothly. Furthermore, there is some confusion in the final paragraph regarding whether shorter weeks are good or bad. While all parts of the task are addressed, the lack of clarity and logical extension places this at Band 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
Paragraphing is attempted, with distinct sections for the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, the logical progression within and between paragraphs is disrupted by confusing transitions and contradictory statements. For example, the sentence 'I also disagree that shorter working make a worker lazy' introduces a counter-argument abruptly without proper signposting. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or misused, such as 'In contrast' used to introduce a paragraph that elaborates on potential drawbacks rather than contrasting cleanly with the previous point. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly with pronouns like 'its' and 'it'. Overall organisation shows some structural awareness, but coherence suffers from frequent disruptions, aligning with Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and contains frequent inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word formation. Examples of awkward phrasing include 'more stressful and effective mindset', 'hurly and burly', 'escape prisoners', and 'stress lf daily challenges'. There are also lexical slips such as 'smaller working weeks' instead of 'shorter working weeks', and 'prosperity' used inappropriately instead of 'productivity'. While the writer attempts some less common expressions, frequent errors in collocation and phrasing impede clear communication at times, making this response fit the Band 5.0 descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response exhibits a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside poorly controlled complex attempts. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('reducing hours make', 'every worker show'), incorrect verb forms ('shorter working make', 'did not work properly in time'), and missing prepositions or articles. Punctuation errors are also present, including comma splices and awkward phrasing. These frequent errors cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and prevent the writing from achieving a higher band, reflecting a Band 4.5 performance rounded to 5.0.
