Student answer (Band 5.0)

People alwasy argue that they should have given the chance of long weekend and the week days should be less. I agree with this statement that people should be allowed for the less period of time in the week so they can avail the long weekend.

To begin with, due to less working days people can easily manage their house hold affairs , pending works, hopital visits, shopping , and travelling with family and friemds. As well as they feel relaxed and cheerful to have peacful and a balanced routine . For instance, in seven days of a week let suppose if they get four days of wrok and three days of lesiure time it would be such a heaven to them, they can spendquality time with thier family and friends while the time which they used to work all day long in their official environment. Morover, they could prevent from their hectic routine. Thus, it would feel as an emotional and physical sateity and will boost their overall mental health and impact on their mood as a whole.

Furthermore, A long weekend people can enjoy their family time togather and they also can complete their remaining tasks before last minutes. Also they would have dinners and go outside with their siblings and parents for puschansing their kind of stuff. Although, some expert

s says that depending on sedentary lifestyle can cause health risk such as obesity but if poeple manage their time and spend it in a proper productive way, definitely they can achive their desired result of happiness of the real long weekend.

To taking everything into account, i firmly agree with this idea that poeple deserve shorter working days and a long happy weekend.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The candidate addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear and consistent position in agreement with the statement. The ideas presented are generally relevant, focusing on the benefits of a shorter working week such as improved mental health, household management, and quality time with family and friends. However, the development of these ideas tends to be repetitive and limited in depth. For instance, the second and third body paragraphs overlap significantly in discussing family time and daily tasks without introducing distinct analytical dimensions. There is also a slight over-generalisation regarding the psychological impact of a four-day work week. Nevertheless, the main position is clearly communicated throughout the response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is arranged coherently with a clear overall direction, starting with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a concluding sentence. Paragraphing is utilised to separate distinct points, although internal cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. Words and phrases such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'To taking everything into account' are used to signal logical relationships, but grammatical inaccuracies in these transitions detract from their natural flow. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the dangling clause in 'To taking everything into account'. Progression is visible, but the overuse of listing and repetitive connectors prevents the text from achieving a smoother, higher-level cohesive structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The lexical resource demonstrates an adequate range for the task, successfully conveying the candidate's arguments about lifestyle and work-life balance. The candidate attempts less common vocabulary, such as 'sedentary lifestyle', 'sateity', and 'leisure time', but these attempts are accompanied by frequent spelling and word-choice errors, including 'alwasy', 'hopital', 'friemds', 'peacful', 'wrok', 'Morover', 'togather', 'puschansing', and 'poeple'. These errors do not seriously impede communication as the intended meaning remains clear, but they restrict the lexical score to the lower end of the competent range due to recurrent mechanical inaccuracies.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional forms ('if they get four days of work and three days of leisure time it would be such a heaven') and subordinate clauses. However, control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. There are numerous grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('expert says'), incorrect prepositions ('depending on sedentary lifestyle'), tense inconsistencies, and awkward phrasing ('people should be allowed for the less period of time'). Punctuation is also frequently misused, particularly with spaces placed before commas. These errors can cause occasional difficulty for the reader, placing the response firmly in the Band 5 category.
