Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The student attempts to address the prompt by expressing a clear position of agreement regarding shorter working weeks. However, the response falls severely short of the word count requirement, containing only 128 words against the 250-word minimum. Because of this extreme under-length, the ideas remain highly limited, underdeveloped, and lack the necessary examples and extensions required to fully satisfy the task. While the general stance is discernible, the lack of development and brevity restricts the score under the Band 4 descriptors, where the task is responded to only minimally.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The text is organized into four brief paragraphs, attempting an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by broken syntax and unclear logical links. Cohesive devices are basic and repetitive, such as 'firstly' and 'secondly', and referencing is frequently unclear, as seen in phrases like 'during their when people are bg ne their work'. Paragraphing is present visually, but the internal coherence within paragraphs is weak due to fragmented thoughts and confusing transitions.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, featuring frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'eassy' for essay, 'weeakend', 'bg', and 'ne'. The range of vocabulary is extremely limited and minimally adequate only for very basic communication. Words like 'satisfaction', 'quality life', and 'work hard' are repeated without demonstrating the ability to use less common lexical items or appropriate collocations, placing the response firmly at Band 4.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The writing displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Most sentences are simple or attempt complex structures that are heavily flawed and ungrammatical, such as 'in weekend should be longer by working people should be free in longer time'. Errors in punctuation, capitalization (e.g., lowercase 'i'), subject-verb agreement, and tense usage are pervasive throughout the text and frequently distort the intended meaning, causing significant difficulty for the reader.
