Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, it has become a most trending topic among employees. I firmly agree on viewpoint that working week should be shorter and should have a longer weekend for employers. This essay will not only elaborate on my viewpoint but also provides related examples to support it.

To beign with, one of the most significant reasons is that nowadays working culture has become more stressful. This can be attribute to the fact that many employers are having mental issues due to a heavy work load, which can be leads to many serious injuries. For instance, in many developing countries, workers in the IT sectors are facing a terrible experience due to over work as they has to complete tasks within a shorter time duration. Consequently, many developers or workers are doing their work after office time to meet deadlines. Therefore, a shorter working days in a week gives employers to relax, which can reduced their stress.

Moreover, another essential factors is a declining in productivity of employers. Furthuremore, many employers can not able to adapt hectic schedule of work and also they are not able to do work with full potiential. For instances, in many developing countries, poeple are working in the government sectors produce less effect result, which is why many governments initiatives has been failed. Thus, a proper working schedule will uplift productivity of many working sectors.

In conlusion, some may argue that a shorter working week makes the a company to hire more people, which can be done with a minimum number of workers. I believe that a shorter working week is not only good for employer's health but also increase their productivity. Goverments should take serious action to maintain work balance in all organisation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The student addresses the prompt directly by clearly stating a position agreeing that the working week should be shorter and weekends longer. The response includes relevant ideas such as stress reduction and productivity improvements, which are supported by examples from developing countries and IT sectors. However, there is some confusion in terminology throughout the essay, notably using 'employers' when referring to 'employees' or 'workers'. For instance, the student states that 'a shorter working days in a week gives employers to relax,' which is a logical reversal since employees are the ones needing rest. Consequently, the ideas are somewhat under-developed due to this persistent lexical confusion. Overall, the task is addressed, warranting a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is divided into four standard paragraphs with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an overall coherent arrangement. Logical progression is attempted using cohesive devices such as 'To beign with', 'Moreover', and 'In conlusion'. However, cohesion and referencing are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, the transition 'Furthuremore, many employers can not able to adapt hectic schedule' introduces repetitive phrasing and minor mechanical errors. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to separate distinct points, but referencing across sentences occasionally lacks clarity due to the confusion between employers and employees. These issues place the response firmly at Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'substantive', 'productivity', and 'organisations'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice, spelling, and collocation that impede precise communication. Notable examples include spelling mistakes like 'beign', 'Furthuremore', and 'conlusion', as well as a severe word-choice error in substituting 'employers' for 'employees' or 'workers' repeatedly (e.g., 'working week should be shorter... for employers' and 'productivity of employers'). Additionally, grammatical word formation errors like 'full potiential' and 'effect result' appear. These limitations demonstrate a Band 5.0 profile for Lexical Resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures. However, there is a high frequency of grammatical errors and awkward phrasing that frequently cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of errors include subject-verb agreement and tense issues such as 'many employers are having mental issues... which can is leads to', 'as they has to complete', and 'many governments initiatives has been failed'. Preposition and article errors are also common, such as 'makes the a company to hire'. While the sentence structures show some variety, the density of basic grammatical errors restricts the score to a Band 5.0.
