Student answer (Band 4.5)

in my opinion the working weeks should be shorter i am totally agree with this statement because if we get a shorter week for and longer weeekend we will enjoy and spend quality time with our family and friends because some companies or industries even work on sat/sun to manage their work uplift there load for supply and demand .Awoker should be facilitate with at least 2 days of fulln weekend if he is married he want to spend and enjoy the rest of days with his family .if a male or female who is aworker or employee never get weekend off he cant manage too much stressed and get anxiety as well . in my family there is my cousin called latif who is worked at aprivate company in mirpurkhas the company cant give him proper weekendsfor his jobs at starting he managed but after some time he got more stressed and getting panic on certain things then we consult with a doctor he suggest him to quite job and take some rest and timr for him and his family this is an open example for m rto agree with this statement and showing the importance of weekend off and no working days ,also when i did my internship i personally also feel uncomfortable and distracted on working on weekends and much more for any certificated but i am helipless at time this also the fact i feel in my personal life , if we create or weekend with our family and friends so it would be great for mental and physical helath also being as productive for our personal and collective with this suggestion i would think comapnies should re think make there policies easy for employees because with the help of employess you can make your work grow and progress faster as well as convienet and relevent .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in favor of a shorter working week and a longer weekend. Ideas are supported with reasons, such as the benefits to mental health and family relationships, and personal/familial examples (the cousin Latif and your internship experience). However, the response consists of a single, continuous run-on paragraph, which hampers full development and clear structuring of ideas. To reach a higher band, the main arguments should be organised into distinct paragraphs with broader exploration of societal or economic implications rather than relying solely on personal anecdotes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The text suffers significantly from a lack of paragraphing, appearing as one long block of text. There is an absence of full stops, with commas and run-on structures used instead, making it difficult to follow the logical progression. Cohesive devices are either missing or repetitive (e.g., using 'because' and 'and' excessively to chain clauses together). While the overall stance is maintained throughout, the mechanical and faulty cohesion places this response firmly in the lower bands for this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with numerous spelling and word-form errors (e.g., 'awoker', 'fulln', 'comapnies', 'convienet', 'quite job' instead of 'quit'). While the writer attempts some less common terms like 'supply and demand', 'internship', and 'mental and physical health', the high frequency of lexical and mechanical errors impedes fluent reading and obscures meaning in several places, resulting in a limited, minimally adequate range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical control is weak. The entire response is essentially one long compound-complex sentence strung together with commas, completely lacking correct punctuation and capitalization. There are frequent errors in verb tense and agreement (e.g., 'workers should have' contrasted with 'industries even work', 'he cant manage too much stressed', 'is worked at'). The range of structures is limited by the run-on nature of the writing, and errors frequently cause difficulty for the reader.
