Student answer (Band 4.5)
to begin with i think workers should have a longer weeknend because it is important to rest and clear their mind from the work and the exhust and stress ,not only that ,but to spend more time with thier family and thier kids and friends , have trips with them , and it is significant to pay attention to thier kids since all the weej they're working all day and have no time to check thier kids ,not all parents do that but a little of bit of them does that and its sad , consequently if the workers don't get longer weekend they will be tired , phisically and mentally , and they will get no time to spend time with thier family and kids and friends , and this will cause a big problem for thier kids , kids need attention , espicially from thier parents , they are keen on having thier parents by thier sides , for example palying with them and read stories before sleeping , or hanging out with them , on the other hand , parents need to check thier kids with who they are spending thier week , and what they are playing and watching to put it simply , i suppot the idea of giving workers a longer weekend , so we can build a strong and smart generation , and have the best mental health and win our family anf kids ,friends also make you feel so much good .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly agreeing that the working week should be shorter to allow workers more time for rest, family, and children. A position is maintained throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas lacks formal structure and organisation, resulting in a single massive run-on sentence. While reasons and examples such as playing with children and reading stories are provided, the arguments tend to be repetitive and lack deep elaboration, placing the response comfortably within the Band 5 descriptors where ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
Coherence and cohesion are severely compromised in this response. The entire essay consists of one single, extremely long paragraph without any period punctuation, capital letters for new sentences, or standard paragraph breaks. Basic cohesive devices like commas and phrases such as 'not only that, but' and 'consequently' are used, but the absence of structural divisions and full stops makes the text difficult to follow. There is no clear progression of distinct paragraphs, which reflects the Band 4 to Band 5 descriptors, leading to an overall score of 4.5.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The student demonstrates a minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using common words to convey personal thoughts about family, rest, and stress. However, there are numerous noticeable spelling errors such as 'weeknend', 'exhust', 'thier', 'weej', 'phisically', 'espicially', 'palying', and 'suppot'. These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The lexical range is basic and repetitive, and while attempts are made to use less common words like 'significant' and 'generation', the frequent spelling inaccuracies limit the score to Band 4.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The grammatical range is extremely limited due to the complete lack of sentence boundaries. The entire text is written as one gigantic compound-complex sentence strung together with commas and coordinating conjunctions. There is a total absence of periods, capitalisation at the start of sentences, and proper punctuation control. While simple clauses are comprehensible, the lack of distinct sentences and frequent punctuation errors mean that basic grammatical structures are not controlled at the sentence level, warranting a Band 4.0.
