Student answer (Band 4.5)

The working break should be smaller and employes should have a largest weekend. The proposition that the standard work week should be condensed to allow for an extended weekend is a subject of contemporary debate. From my perspective, although there may be adverse economic consequences, this proposal is both rational and prudent.

On the other hand, many people working in oyher jobs . but many jobs have required time is shorter . so, I think many people have many job for working in weekly so they have working is situation is very tired but many people have extra working for jobs for receive extra salary. pakitan is very low budget country .They have many people salary in low condition so individuals have very strict situation for working jobs or other work in outdoor activites such as farming, labour or other activities. so, I think many people have very strict dutes in ther jobs but not for a stay in week .

On the hand , few individuals have many opportunties in city for a job. but job have very strict so some have very easy . so many people many easily job suitable. so , I think many people have no holidays in week but some [ppeople have holiday in week .but goverment have few people holidays at weekend so many people spend time with the family . And the people is more feel comfortable and relaxing . for the next start is active for working. and salary is deliver for each time. therfore, many people have happy for weekend holidays . And some people have travel for out of city. so, I think many people have longer time holidays due to their spend a lot of time with the family .

In the conclusions, the proposition that the standard work week shpould be condensed to allow for an extended weekend is a subject of contemporay debate. from my prespective, although there may be adverse economic consequences , this proporsal is both rational and prudent.so, i think m,any people have very happy feel, comfortable and relaxing for weekend holidays.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear stance ('From my perspective... this proposal is both rational and prudent'). However, the development of ideas in the body paragraphs is severely hindered by unclear sentences and irrelevant tangents, such as discussing low budgets in Pakistan and various outdoor activities. While the introduction and conclusion are well-formulated, the core body paragraphs struggle to sustain a coherent argument related to the economic or personal impacts of a shorter work week. This places the performance firmly in the Band 5 category, where ideas are limited and under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay attempts to use standard organizational markers such as 'On the other hand' and 'In the conclusions'. However, logical progression is frequently disrupted by fragmented sentences and abrupt shifts in focus. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal structure of the body paragraphs lacks cohesion and clear progression. Referencing words like 'this' or 'they' are sometimes ambiguous, causing confusion for the reader. These issues align with the Band 5 descriptor, where there is some organization but no clear overall progression, and cohesive devices are often inaccurate.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used throughout the essay is basic and repetitive, with frequent word-choice errors and spelling mistakes (e.g., 'employes', 'oyher', 'opportunties', 'contemporay', 'proporsal'). While the student successfully uses some topic-related vocabulary like 'contemporary debate' and 'economic consequences' in the copied introduction and conclusion, the vocabulary in the body paragraphs is extremely limited and strains the reader's comprehension. This performance is characteristic of Band 4, where vocabulary is basic and errors frequently occur.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The text contains a very limited range of structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are persistent grammatical errors throughout, including subject-verb agreement issues ('employes should have a largest weekend'), incorrect prepositions, and fragmented clauses (e.g., 'so, I think many people have many job for working in weekly'). Punctuation is also misused, with spaces often incorrectly placed before commas and periods. These widespread errors cause significant difficulty for the reader, placing the grammar score at Band 4.
