Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's world where the amount of workload for every person in every aspect of professional field is escalating steadily on daily basis. The topic of working days and non-working days has long been a subject of debate. In Almost every corner of the world there are two week-ends and five working days. Some people advocates that this weekly schedule is perfect, while others disagree. Although, I believe that this schedule does not satisfies every individual's work life balance.

The people who believe that their work-life schedule is appropriate for them, the organization they are in plays crucial role in their satisfaction. Either the institute they are working for really took grate care of their employees or provide them really appreciable benefits or both. On top of that the organization working environment is so positive and working there is so pleasant that every individual can easily balance their professional and personal responsibilities.

On other hand the people who disagrees, are mostly the people who work overtime in general and sometime their organizations snatch away the time of their break due to workload. For instance, in mostly IT sectors on weekends employees have to work because the clients facing issue in using company application. These types of scenarios are common in every company nowadays. These are the reasons workers believe that they should have longer weekends.

In conclusion, people who agree with this contentious issue or disagrees both have their own reasons. Consequently, I'm more inclined toward the individuals who believe that there should more longer weekends. So there will be no injustice with the people work life balance and every person smoothly fulfills his professional and personal duties.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether the working week should be shorter and workers should have a longer weekend, presenting a clear position that you are inclined toward longer weekends. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and lacks depth. For instance, while you mention that organizations play a crucial role and give a brief example regarding IT sectors working on weekends, the arguments remain somewhat generalized and repetitive. To reach a higher band, the ideas need to be more fully extended with more robust explanations and varied examples. Nevertheless, all parts of the prompt are addressed, fulfilling the requirements for Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different viewpoints. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. The first sentence is a sentence fragment ('In today's world where...'), which disrupts the flow. Furthermore, transitional phrases and logical links between sentences are occasionally misused, such as 'On other hand the people who disagrees' and 'Consequently, I'm more inclined'. Referencing and logical progression need greater precision and smoother transitions to achieve a higher score, placing this performance solidly at Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'contentious issue', 'escalating steadily', and 'work-life balance'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'Some people advocates' (instead of advocate), 'really took grate care' (spelling and collocation error for great care), and 'the clients facing issue' (grammatical slip in vocabulary usage). These inaccuracies do not severely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to Band 6.0, as precision and control are inconsistent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writing exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is inconsistent. There are several significant grammatical errors, including sentence fragments ('In today's world where the amount of workload...'), subject-verb agreement issues ('people who disagrees'), and punctuation errors. Additionally, relative clauses and dependent clauses are sometimes incorrectly structured, leading to confusion. While communication is not entirely impeded and some complex structures are attempted, the frequency of errors prevents the response from achieving a Band 6.5 or higher.
