Student answer (Band 5.5)
The working week should be shorter and employees should spend a longer weekend. To some extent, I am completely disagree with this statement while I think there need a balance between weekdays and weekend because shorter working week may create challenging situations in the workplace.
Employees are the main wheel of an organization to achieve organiational goals and increasing profitability. If the workers are not able to do their work properly due to longer holiday or weekend company may face greater failure. Moreover, longer off day can make employees lazy, as a result they become unconsious about their daily work activities. However, this also affects the productivity of a worker because of inconsistancy and lack of regular practice. For instance, In a product delivering company, If the delivery boy gets more weekend than weekdays, the customer may not get the ordered product on time. As a result, customer will dissatisfied with that company and this will damage the reputation of the company.
Furthermore, excessive workload and working hours can destroy the regular pattern of work also workers may face stress which will decrease the performance level. As a result, workers would not be able to improve their efficiency and they will become physically and mentally weak. Therefore, the employees are not able to spend proper time with their family. However, if there is an appropriate arrangement of weekend which is neccessary for refreshment , both employee and owner benefitted from this.
In conclusion, I consider that, weekend is neccessary for physical and mental well being but short period of work day can cause losses in an organization. So, there need a equal concentation in the both terms.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear stance against a shorter working week, acknowledging that a balance is necessary. The position is maintained throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the argument about employees becoming lazy and losing productivity is repeated across the introduction and body paragraphs without sufficient extension or deep analysis. Examples, such as the delivery company scenario, are provided to support the argument, which meets the criteria for Band 6. To reach a higher band, the ideas need to be more fully elaborated with deeper explanations of economic or psychological impacts.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as company productivity versus personal well-being. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes faulty, mechanical, or unnatural. Phrases like 'To some extent, I am completely disagree' and abrupt transitions like 'However, this also affects' hinder smooth progression. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'both employee and owner benefitted from this.' The logical flow is present, but mechanical linkage places this firmly at Band 6.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'profitability', 'inconsistancy', and 'reputation'. However, there are numerous word choice and spelling errors throughout the text, including 'organiational', 'unconsious', 'inconsistancy', 'dissatisfied' (used as an adjective without 'be'), and 'neccessary'. Furthermore, collocation and phrasing errors, such as 'I am completely disagree' instead of 'I completely disagree' and 'a equal concentation in the both terms', restrict the lexical score. The vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey meaning, but errors occasionally cause strain for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in verb forms, prepositions, and articles. Examples include 'while I think there need a balance', 'company may face greater failure' (missing article), 'if the delivery boy gets more weekend than weekdays', and 'there need a equal concentation'. Many complex structures contain errors that detract from readability. While communication is not severely impeded, the high frequency of basic and complex structural errors prevents the response from achieving a higher band.
