Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some individuals says that the workers working hours should be shorter and they should have a right to have a more longer weeknd.I firmly agree with the gien statement. My inclination is elaborated in further paragraphs with relevant examples.

The one reason to provide a shorter working hours for employees is family and loved ones need,as when a employee is working continuously for a longer period of time they would not be able to spend enough time with their family. for instance whenever a person will working in firm, is doing 8-10 job, so how would he/she will be able to spend enough time with their family or friends which give them a sense of protection and happy mood. Moreover,it is good for their mental health and physical well-being as working continuously for a longer period of time can make serious health related issue suich as back pain and headache. So for that empoyeer should have to give longer period of weeknd holidays,as they would be able to spend enough time with their family and friends.

The certain drawbacks regarding the same can lead to certain issue such as laziness, when a person can get easy holidays in their specific field of work so they usually misused it by making different false messages and which will directly affects the company overall growth and success.

In conclusion, workers should have enough amount of freedom regarding their work life balance and it is their employeer duty so see as they would not do any mislead things in future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing that working hours should be shorter and weekends longer. Main ideas are introduced, such as the need for family time and physical well-being, and a counterargument regarding potential drawbacks like laziness is also acknowledged. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on family time and health benefits relies on general assertions rather than fully elaborated examples. The mention of drawbacks feels abrupt and underdeveloped. Despite these limitations in depth, all parts of the prompt are addressed with a clear stance throughout, corresponding well to Band 6 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates an overall logical arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently faulty and mechanical. There are noticeable issues with referencing, spacing, and punctuation, such as missing spaces after commas and periods (e.g., 'need,as when', 'Moreover,it', 'issuesuich'), which makes the flow choppy. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal transitions within paragraphs lack smooth linking. Cohesive devices are sometimes used awkwardly or inaccurately. While the progression of ideas is discernible, the mechanical flaws in formatting and referencing pull the score down to Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases such as 'physical well-being', 'work life balance', and 'overall growth and success'. However, there are frequent word-choice errors, odd collocations, and spelling mistakes throughout the text. Examples include 'more longer weeknd', 'gien statement', 'suich', 'empoyeer', and 'mislead things'. Furthermore, terms are sometimes repeated inappropriately. While these lexical errors do not completely obscure the central meaning, they are noticeable and cause some difficulty for the reader, placing the response firmly at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, verb tenses, and sentence construction. Examples include 'Some individuals says that the workers working hours should be shorter', 'when a person will working in firm, is doing 8-10 job, so how would he/she will be able to', and 'employer should have to give longer period of weeknd holidays,as they would be able to'. These numerous structural errors and awkward phrasings cause significant strain for the reader and demonstrate limited control over complex forms, aligning with the Band 5 descriptors.
