Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The candidate addresses the prompt by clearly stating an agreement with the idea that the working week should be shorter. However, the development of ideas is heavily repetitive and lacks sufficient extension. Throughout the essay, the writer repeatedly mentions that shorter hours improve worker health, enable family time, and prevent diseases without introducing diverse supporting arguments or specific real-world examples. Phrases such as 'It will be prove helpful in the future' and 'the health of the worker should be disturb' are restated in different ways across multiple paragraphs rather than built upon. While a clear position is maintained throughout, the lack of depth, limited elaboration, and lack of genuine task extension mean the response aligns best with Band 5 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text demonstrates some overall organisation, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, progression is weak because sentences and paragraphs frequently repeat the same underlying thoughts rather than advancing the argument. Cohesive devices are either missing or applied repetitively and inaccurately, such as 'In this way' and 'If we follow this rule' appearing at the start of almost every sentence and paragraph. Paragraphing is attempted, but individual paragraphs lack internal cohesion and fail to maintain a single clear topic. Referencing is sometimes unclear, notably when pronouns like 'We' and 'They' are used without proper antecedents. These persistent cohesion issues place the response at Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used throughout the essay is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on high-frequency words such as 'worker', 'health', 'future', 'rule', and 'work'. There are numerous word choice and word formation errors, such as 'agree with that', 'Europe country', 'properly take care', and 'mentally disturb' instead of 'mentally disturbed'. The candidate attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'excitement' and 'diseases', but these are often misused or awkwardly collocated. The range of vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic stance, but frequent inaccuracies and narrowness of expression restrict the score to Band 4.5, which is reported as a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting predominantly of simple sentences and repetitive conditional clauses beginning with 'If'. There are frequent and systematic grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('worker are working', 'worker healthy'), incorrect verb forms ('It will be prove helpful', 'health could not be maintain'), and missing prepositions or articles ('In Europe country people are properly take care'). These errors frequently cause strain for the reader and obscure the precise meaning of several sentences. Because complex structures are rarely attempted accurately and simple sentences contain persistent basic errors, the response corresponds to Band 4.0.
